LJ_GQV 115 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Well someone has to say it...... That'll polish out, right? Seriously though, glad you are ok & nobody else was hurt etc. a shame about the car though & all the effort (and money) you have put into it to get back on the road
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 A bit of T-cut and it will be fine At the end of the day its just a car, I had too many anyway. Just had a thought LJ, how about a straight swap my 166 for your Mito ?
LJ_GQV 115 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Im gutted & its not even my car maybe you will be on the look out for a nice 3.0 V6 sooner than you thought? If it turns out to be something the garage did or didn't do i think they'll have a lot of explaining to do we could bastardise the 2 & make a V6 MiTo
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 A V6 Mito would be , there's no oil in the V6 at the moment Not sure if I'm going to get another, for now I'm going to stick with the 147, 156 & the Megane gets a reprieve so wont be sold for a while. I like to have a spare car
Bigdar 62 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Fuckin hell !!! Sorry k9d, you must be amazed you're ok, and gutted about the car. Rip
MrsAlfa 58 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Wow. I think it's a good thing you took pics. Where did they take it? Will you have to pay storage? Or the insurance cough up? You should sue the arse off the garage, but I think it would help if you can store the wreckage somewhere. Where there's a blame ...
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Fuckin hell !!! Sorry k9d, you must be amazed you're ok, and gutted about the car. Rip 166 Yep I couldn't believe I climbed out without any real damage to me Kind of gutted but more relieved to be alive. Wow. I think it's a good thing you took pics. Where did they take it? Will you have to pay storage? Or the insurance cough up? You should sue the arse off the garage, but I think it would help if you can store the wreckage somewhere. Where there's a blame ... Don't know where its gone, not sure about storage but I'm fully comp so insurance should pay up.

Smaky 73 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Take it the cambelt can be chopped off my list then??? Though the oil filter will be easier this time. That is a sorry state off affairs, I also notice that the o/s front upper wishbone is disconnected from the upright in that image, can we ask where the wishbones were sourced? But most off all your OK, and that is just a lump of metal and plastic.
Smaky 73 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 My main issues with my current 166 is the paint and the lack of torque from the engine, most of the time it doesn't bother me but there are times when you just want to overtake and not have to stir the box and rev the nuts off it. This isn't helped by the heavy clutch and bad positioning/long throw of the gear lever, if it had the positioning and lever from my 156 it would be much better. I still love the look and rareness of the 166. Now even rarer
Smaky 73 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Why is the citroen stuffed?

Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Hi mate glad to see your ok. That's a right mess. Have you not been driving it at all . I ve been sat here wallowing in self pity all afternoon thinking I'd had a bad day but that is not good. What had you had done to the car while it was in the garage I don't think I saw that bit of the post. It must be the day for wrecking Alfas have to make a note of the date and stay home next year
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 Yep cam belt is off the list Strange even when it was on its side like that I still couldn't the bloody oil filter. The Citroen is stuffed because the 166 slide into it on its side. The work done was, leaking power steering pipe, front drivers side upper wish bone and new spring. As Smaky said the upper wishbone is broken, I don't know where it was sourced. Looking at the relative lack of damage to the front drivers side wing the wheel on that side didn't take much of an impact yet the lower wish bone was bent and the upper one was broken. Add that info to the strange skid mark and I think that wheel was turning me left whilst I was trying to turn right with the other wheel which is why I lost control. Once the car was up the bank I became a passenger.

garwood1 1 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 Man, it looks even WORSE in these pics. You are one lucky guy to have walked away with nothing more than a chinese burn... Interesting forensics on this accident...In a very similar fashion, when my engine was rebuilt, the highly respected specialist who did the work had removed the centre link from the front suspension to make motor removal/installation easier. When car was returned, he had left off the nuts from the end links. The centre link fell off just as I pulled into a parking space at my destination, following a 100 mile motorway journey... Though I'm not religious on the whole, I'm a big believer in 'guardian angels'. Metal and plastic indeed...there are always more out there, if you are intent on getting another. Anjenha 44 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 I've decided after some thought that I wont bother sorting the paintwork on my 166 Oh how awful SO glad you're ok though I know it's shit, but the car is metal and plastic and foam rubber, replaceable, sort of... K9d 108 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 you can't park that there you could be right, its bloody awkward to get out Citroen 1 Alfa 0 Who'd have thought a Citroen could do that much damage ! Glad you're OK Cheers The Citroen only played a bit part, it doesn't look like it but prior to the accident I was travelling in the opposite direction. I think the fact I ended up travelling backwards meant that when I hit the Citroen my deceleration was absorbed my the seat, the back was almost horizontal, which saved me a lot of potential harm. Definition of FUBAR: See above. when the car was righted I grabbed my stuff from inside then tried to open the glove box so I could open the boot.
