ACAPULCO AL 2 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 just been having a discussion in the office about carbon footprint - which led me to the decision that my next car might just have to be a big fuck off gas guzzler just to piss the eco mentalists off. my mileage is now down to reasonable levels (could prob keep it under 12k a year if i tried), so the fuel costs wouldn't be crippling. and big fat gas guzzlers will become so unpopular that no fecker will want one, and hence prices should carry on tumbling, so all in all it won't cost me any more than buying a nice efficient diesel so.... recommendations please (nothing ancient as i don't want something that'll be breaking down every month)

Symon 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2011 BMW M5 E39 Can be had for about 5k, 5.0 V8 making 400bhp Should do about 20mpg driven carefully, as well as being pretty reliable. Or a Jag XJR if you are not keen on Beemers

keithyboy 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2011 Vauxhall VXR8. V8 power, somewhere around 10mpg... apparently they'll do 30+ on the motorway if you're not a loon. As my daughter would say, you're all batty. If you really want a gas guzzler, you need: 1. Weight (lots of it) 2. A massive but massively inefficient engine 3. An automatic 'box with as few speeds as possible To demostrate your gas guzzling credentials it needs to be quite grotesque too. i know you said not old but stop being such a tart and buy this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cadillac ... 43a9b85bbe It ticks all those boxes and the seats are trimmed with golfist's trousers. milowokie 13 Report post Posted September 28, 2011 How about a Brera/159 3.2 Q4? Another vote for a Supercharged Jaagwar, 6 or 8 pot (I prefer the straight six). A scary-tuned (400hp+) SAAB can get you into single figure mpg, if driven properly. Left field suggestion, VW Phaeton W12.
