  1. Recent study suggested that overall, petrol cars are cheaper to run, but that is if you buy new, as for some reason they charge more for diesel. Guess if you're not paying new price then it's cheaper to go diseasel. I have one ...and it gets me 30mpg ish.
  2. tbh the price of diesel, they're probably not much different on economy.
  3. Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack your thread - I will ask the son in law what his car is!
  4. I refer you to my earlier post .. I don't know when we'll see it next, but I'll get some next time he's over.
  5. I'm told you can. Anyway he's happy ...
  6. Even easier/cheaper to have it rubbed down and fixed! It's between the front of the car and the headlight washer IIRC. I think the guy was quoted £50 or something ...
  7. Could be. I only saw it briefly one morning before I went to work. It has one of the "teeth" missing from the front grille (second from bottom), and a crack in the front bumper which is pretty cosmetic, but other than that, it's pretty good. It has something like 60K on the clock, and it's an 02 plate! Only cost him £1450, too
  8. Ah, right. Andrew, my daughter's boyfriend (he was the tall larger one at the AD weekend!) has just bought himself a tidy 147, I thought it was the same colour as yours, but not quite sure. I'll have to find out what the actual name of this one is then. Sparkly grey, anyway ..
  9. Well I don't know if they have the same ad over there, but the old VW ad used to be "If only everything was as reliable as a VW". See a lot of them broken down, too! And yet, despite their reputation, you hardly ever see an Alfa on the side of the road ...
  10. You don't think it's gonna blow up? Well I went to London at the weekend. It's a round trip of about 80 miles from where I live. EVERY car I saw broken down was a Merc. Just sayin' :
  11. would have liked to go, but literally HAVE to have a weekend at home this weekend!
  12. It's because we've yet to find a good one ... Seriously, it makes a change, and we've tried a few so far, some good, some not so good - going back to the same one next month as in June, probably, as there's a quiz night and everyone enjoyed a good laugh even though we didn't win (weren't last tho either ... )
  13. This is usually organised by Jillyflower on the last Thursday of the month at a different pub each month. Sometimes we have a meal, or there may be a quiz, or just have a drink and a chat. Check out the AO Peterborough Pub Meet page on Facebook for up to date details. (I can't post details now, as am at work and unable to view Facebook!)
  14. You never know when it would be handy! The number, of course!
  15. Ha - beat me to it! Thought i had your mobile, Smiffy, but obviously not!
  16. I can pm him on FB if you're not on there/friends with him?
  17. Andy and I will eat most veggie stuff. Can't remember what was on offer last year though? As long as it's not goat's cheese. It makes Andy
  18. Didn't know it was for sale He's bought one off eBay, picking up on friday subject to it being ok. If not, will ask him

LJ gave you a tutorial, didn't he? It's really easy once you've got the hang of it.
  21. He's found lower mileage ones than that for less money! But thanks, anyway.
