K9d 108 Report post Posted September 25, 2013 According to Smaky, Suds are rust buckets and 75s are impossible to get parts for. But I love a challenge.
Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 25, 2013 I cant deny they rust but if its made it this far it should be ok but you would have to check it thouroughly . most of them didnt make it past 8years old that ones thirty so must have had regular care . K9d 108 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Went over today to look at the sud, it all seemed very straight and tidy, there are a few rust issues, front wing, below the windscreen and nearside rear wheel arch were the main ones. Its a variety of shades of red. Engine sounds and its lovely to drive.
Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Yeah you got to watch the rust it would need sorting straight away properly. They are great fun to drive proper little go carts. Sounds like it could get expensive if the windscreen scuttle is going though. Would need to get a expert to look it over and give you an estimate to be safe. Having said that it is thirty years old . So at least you should get free road tax. And classic insurance.
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Yep the rust and poor paint are putting me off. Not Tax free, it used to be over 25 year old cars, but labour put a stop to that in 1997, party of the working man and all that bollocks To get free Tax it has to be 1973 or earlier. , tax on the sud is £135 a year. You'd have to check . If you want something like that it needs to be original or re done to original spec really.

Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Not even sure that's an alfa colour unless it's the green they used on the spider circa 1977/80 ? Don't understand why you would do that but there you go?
Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 That other one is a bit of a mess but that's a rare one and probably worth £25,000+ when done and it's beautiful shape.
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 I think patience is my key here, wait until I see the right car at the right price. will also have to see the outcome of the insurance from the 166.
Gibot123 16 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Yes that is definetly the way to do things. You will know it when you see it. Have you heard anything from the garage yet as what happened to the nut.
K9d 108 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 I feel I must correct my reference to the Megane as "not too bad" Drove it to work today on slightly wet roads and I felt nervous in it, it just didn't feel planted like an Alfa is and it didn't let me know what was going on, its the first time I've driven and felt it was a chore. My accident has made me a bit more edgy but not nervous. The sud gave me more confidence even though I had never driven it before and my shoes were too fat for the pedals, kept catching the brake when I depressed the clutch.
