Squealing

Recommended Posts

Sound from the front wheels!

Just started today quite loud sounds like both sides.

Sound stops when brakes pressed.

Discs and pads new 8 months ago.

Had a look and discs are pitted

?

Does it sound like a bus when you come to a stop? Could be a sticking caliper (had that on my MiTo, GTA squealed like a bitch too ) used to sort it out by getting an air gun & wedging it in the holes & gaps of the caliper & giving it a good clean like that. Got big clouds of brake dust out doing that & they'd go quiet again for a couple of months :)

My 156 did this when I had a sticky rear caliper, putting the handbrake on one click stopped it, so touching the brakes could be doing the same one the front.

My 147 made the same noise a while ago...brake dust! After a good clean, all was well.

Do your discs have a small lip on them? Could be catching the pads. Hit them with a hammer

It's good to see that even when smaky's not around the detailed technical advice continues

Clean the carriers and rebuild, normally that is enough.
