So basically, keep driving it hard and clear all the crap out. The more I drive it the more I'm liking my diesesal.

STOP IT !! Seriously though it's getting worse now and I need to get it sorted, with my limit skills but reasonable enthusiasm what's can I try, or would it just be better to bring it to you ?

When I first got my 156 2.4 10v jtd, it had a serious issue with the EML coming on when I gave it full throttle in 3rd or 4th and sometimes 2nd. The light would come on at 3k rpm and if I changed up a gear I had no power, which made overtaking tricky. Since I have had the car Smaky has checked and cleared my codes and used his magic spray on my turbo vane actuator rod. This didn't seem to make much difference at the time and I was supposed to go back and have my codes read again, but I haven't yet 5 months later. I have changed the air filter, blanked of the EGR and occasionally squirted me rod none of which seemed to make any difference, but I have noticed over time that the EML comes on less now. So today I gave it a blast in 3rd and was up to 4,250rpm before the light came on, then when I changed up, 3rd to 5th, there was power. Why is my car getting better ? P.S. It does seem to be a bit smokier now when I give it a blast.

That's it kick me when I'm down. You know who will be getting his hands dirty fixing this ever growing list.

My 156 is squeaking, or I have a family of mice living in it . The squeak is coming form the back and is worse when I corner, left worse than right, and was noticeably worse today after a run back from Bristol. I checked the wheels when I stopped and the drivers side rear seemed hotter than the rest. When it is squeaking I can make it stop by pulling the hand brake on slightly, obviously not an ideal way to drive. I'm guessing pads or wheel bearing.

You bad man calling Alonso that...and slagging off Massa Would rather see Alonso second than Vettel, and now that he seems to be less angry towards Lewis I may start to like him again. As for Massa, nope sorry he really doesn't deserve a Ferrari drive and he is only there because he is willing to play "roll over" for Alonso on the very rare occasions he gets ahead.

Great race by Lewis. Slug brows did OK. Whinny Webber wasn't to bad. Massa was his usual crap self.

I have to decide if I'm keeping it and if I am need to get belts done, get you too look at the EML issue, re-gas the AC and then get a re-map.

Smaky Magic. I'm sure when they designed it there was a discussion along the lines of "What is the most awkward place we can put this" I'm off work this week, 6-2 next week and off the week after is there a good time for me to pop over, or would you rather come to me ?

Now that looks tempting, a road trip up my favourite bit of road, the Fosse way, and an Italian car event too. Last years was great and Chatsworth house and garden were brilliant.

Still got the 166, the 146 went to the Alfa graveyard, terminal tin worm (I miss that car so much it was such fun to drive). Got another 146 (a Ti but that had suffered a dodgy cam belt replacement before my time. The belt went Smaky fixed it, the bottom end went Smaky was going to fix it but then pointed out the terminal rust, so I gave him the car and cut my losses. Got a 156 sw 2.4 jtd now. , but still want a 145/6.

Looked more like a bone, going from the top of the engine to the suspension turret on the drivers side.

There is that upper strut that looks pretty knackered.

I know, especially with your reputation... but more good news, the 146Ti is off to help other 146s get back on the road, mainly body panels, locks and seats but like any donor, she will live on. But you got to work on the 166 before it went wrong, it hasn't missed a beat since, must get it to you soon to do an oil change etc, I can't for the life of me see how that filter comes off.

The gear stick in my 156 2.4 JTD, wobbles a couple of inches back and forth when in fifth gear, it happens as I lift off the throttle or apply throttle once it has moved it stays there. Hope that makes sense. The car seems to drive fine and it only does this in fifth. Also during the hot weather, if anyone can remember that far back , my gear knob kind of exploded. I got in my very hot car lifted up the collar to put it in reverse and was showered in an explosion of springs, gearknob and collar. One day I will remember to take some glue with me and stick it back together.

That's such nice news to receive, when my 166 passed 1st time with only 2 advisories I was genuinely amazed, still haven't done the advisories

Give it time, I will eventually buy one and your prayers will be answered.
