MrsAlfa 58 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 Neither do we ... I've got friends in Napier - not that far from you! I think my friend works for the St John Ambulance Emergency Service in Hastings though.
Rrascal 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 Neither do we ... I've got friends in Napier - not that far from you! I think my friend works for the St John Ambulance Emergency Service in Hastings though. Napier & Hastings are the 'Twin Cities', there's only 12km between them. We have a 'motorway' that has only two lanes, a set of traffic lights!!, and several round-a-bouts to join the two towns. I'm 18km west of Hastings in a small rural settlement. MrsAlfa 58 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 I've not been to Hastings, but we stayed in Napier for 4 days. Did a tour of both islands about 5/6 years ago. Some very scenic areas.
Rrascal 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 To be honest, Hastings is a bit of a dive... The only real attraction is a LOT of vineyard/wineries... Napier is a much more attractive town, largely rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. NZ is a great place to live.
MrsAlfa 58 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 I can see that could be a good advantage though Napier was nice, but having travelled all around for about 3 weeks, we were glad to come home ...
Rrascal 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 Great smiley...!!! The best bit about living here is that I know plenty of people working in the wineries and a local bottling plant, so I get offered cheap boxes of wine quite regularly... And can buy the really good ones cheap at source... Not sure that my liver appreciates it so much though...!!! I know, travelling is tiring, it's always a relief to get home and relax...
