Smiffy thought this might appeal if you haven't seen it already that is The sz style front is a bit different!
  2. I would agree but they do also make exceeding good F1engines
  3. no thats the wrong one mines tall and thin fitted at the side of the rad.

    Beautiful

    Drewlling in my tea !
  5. No they are separate . You could try and tighten it a little I but it must still roll freely ! Normally if it will tighten there is a good chance it is worn unless it wasn't fitted properly but unlikely,
  6. If you you put it on full lock and drive round then change to the opposite lock you should be able to tell which side it is this is also a good tip to use if buying a car to check the same. Another good one is if you try and pull away in seconds gear with the hand brake on the car should stall if it doesn't the chances are the clutch is slipping
  7. Yeah to be honest that's one of the reasons I try and do as much myself as I can. I may joke about having bolt left over but I do my mates head in when he helps me spend 2 hours doing a job and another hour checking I haven't forgotten anything . I'm a bit paranoid like that.
  8. It's on Eurosport now if anyone is interested

Yes I must admit from what I've learned the older 12v is easier to get bits for and easier to maintain. Not as fussy as the 24v. Also from the point of future value it is always better to keep it original. Depends what you want it for really.
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1996-ALFA-ROMEO-164-SUPER-3-0-24V-SILVER-/151134198620?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item23304cdb5c That's worth a think .

There's a 164 24v on eBay but starting is £599 so you could start with that you take the motor and I'll chip in for the rest of the bits for mine

Sorry but mines not for sale
  14. Think its time to change but can anyone tell me if there is a reasonable price alternative to the very expensive mo a lone . What is the min/max dimensions and cooling rows needed to keep my 24v happy?
  15. Just hope it all works out in your favour as in reality the accident wasn't really your fault . Believe me if the insurance company can find a responsible party to blame they will . You can garantee they will get their " pound of flesh " you are the wronged party not them . They have only had to pay out half the value of your car they can't loose . Just make sure you get what it's cost you back . Plus don't forget they will be quick enough to bump your policy up next year just because you have made a claim so there is another out of pocket expense that will carry on till you get back to A 10 year no claims history again. It's easy to forget all that .
  16. Well considering I wasn't expecting a good result having not looked at it for the last couple of months . It failed on misted headlamp which I knew about , split steering gaitor , and poor adjustment ( aim too high ) on the other headlight and advisory for slight weep from the power steering but minor and slight corrosion to a brake pipe . So not too bad for a 20 year old car . Least it looks like I can keep it on the road a while longer.
  17. Yeah that's reasonable . I would probably wait see what the insurance come up with they may gain info that can help you. You need to claim for loss of no claims as well as your excess plus compensation for work carried out and distress due to the accident Might even be worth you talking to a personal injury solicitor. Yeah I know but it wasn't your fault and it might help someone else if they learn the lesson the hard way..?
  18. Keep your fingers crossed for me the 164 is in for the mot this morning could do with it not being too serious
  19. Does anyone want what's left of my 147 before I cash the tax in sensible offers needs an engine 11mts MOT & 5mts tax .
  20. After doing the ring round I found Allianz to be the cheapest without the haggling price match .

  22. To answer your earlier question yes you should do the pump really just because as with the idlers you have to remove the cam belt to change so whatever is part of this change to save you the expense of doing it later .
  23. Yes I did think it was a bit much for the 166. The spider is nice shame it's lhd but looks good in black
