  1. Because it was the most expensive crap theat FIAT would allow Alfa to use. Anything constructive to say on the matter Smaky? Replace the microphone with one from an aftermarket kit which you can fit in a place that wont pick up the background droning.
  2. Just to let you see what they are like... Q2 in place Q2 in piececs 2 different thicknesses of shim which prevent the diff from failing to release, these come in a kit of 20 thicknesses.
  3. It takes about 10 minutes on a bad day. If you haveapiece of 1/8 bar of a nail to hand then the black pulley on the right (the tensioner) has locking holes that will keep it in the released position whilst your replacing parts and fittig the belt, you simply pull it round with a 15mm ring spanner and pop in the locking pin.
  4. http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/Fil ... etails.php Only a short walk from the Alfa stealers and My side of Swindon.

  6. It's easy.... Trial seperation.... a few weeks later you decide it's the wrong thing, get back together and she is none the wiser...as long as she stay in her place next to the WHITE appliances.
  7. Complete crap, sidewall hieght would affect it, the rims will have a mark on them, 7J*****, this relates to the width and diameter, if you can find it and post it on here, or if you can find the part number on the rim then I can advise you to if the rubber will fit, but from what you've explained already I don't see why it wont.
  8. Indeed Rom, but my aim on this thread was to introduce keywords and phrases for google searches, then hopefully people will find the forum, ask the question then be unwhelmed by the responses from other forums. Still hoping this becomes a mighty oak though.
  9. Tolet you see what you are saving.... http://www.ebspares.co.uk/PNF/PNF.cfm?i ... 062432640d And that is PLUS delivery and VAT
  10. Nice engine, shame about the rest of the car.
  11. Not really as that isn't including water pump, coolant, plugs or oil/filter. AND then they'll find the aux belt drive is duff too and charge full dealer price to repair that.
  12. Who was that then? A chap by the name of Ray from London. Red 156 v6. I think you only had it off him once but fro quite a while and sorted a fair bit on it. Yep I remember that one, main problem was it needed a cracked tappet replacing, only had it a week though, but there was a fair ammount to be done on it.
  13. They will if you ask them.
  14. Yep, it's some wirdo from Brizzzzzzzzzal
  15. Which result in them replacing the exhaust cam and HP fuel pump, it's a common fault on the 2.2, a design fault if you will (and I wasn't involved in that).
  16. ... And no-one is complaining of a selespeed stuck in gear, not selecting gear, not able to start the engine, crunching into gear, leaking oil down the front left wheel, flashing N 1 2 3 4 or 5 on the rev counter, gearbox light flashing, filled it with screenwash, stalled and wont start, starts and cuts out 10 seconds later or spotaneously combusted. Does this mean no-one is driving one or that they are so reliable that all the non believers are to be proven wrong?

  18. This offer is only for the 1.6/1.8 TS engine and does not include the water pump, variator, oil, filter or any diagnostics.
  19. Probably nothing to worry about, have it read and reset.
  20. I would disagree, wear on the inside of of the front tyres is a sign of worn front suspension bushes on either the upper or lower arms, the V6 and JTD shows this wear up quicker due to the heavier engines making the car roll naturally with more camber all the time.
  21. Not on these though. It's probably the tensioner or idler bearing on the way out. Do they not have any adjustment at all or is it a sprung tensioner type of setup that tightens itself? No Alfa since the introduction of the TS, JTD or Busso V6 in the mid 90's uses a tightening screw to tension the belt. They ALL now use a sprung tensioner of various kinds to achieve the correct rate on the belt, the JTD though also has an eccentric Idler which must be set after the belt is on.
  22. Not on these though. It's probably the tensioner or idler bearing on the way out. If it went what damage could be caused ? If I'm going to keep it I will require your expertise for the cam belt, etc. I have a friend who has a nice big drive and he makes good coffee too If the tensioner goes then it's a racket and the belt knobs off, parts cost £160 to replace tensioner, idler and belt.
