2spark 6 Report post Posted December 22, 2011 Must be the rotating mass thing then. Less unsprung weight gives more road contact so cornering is better. Less weight also increases brake efficiency as there's less to slow down. Now all you need to do is get the exact weights of each type wheel with tyre and calculate the rotating mass and the effect this has on natural inertia. That should keep you occupied for a few hours
Smaky 73 Report post Posted December 22, 2011 Very Beemeresque and rancid. Say wotcha think why dontcha . . . . . What's the point in beating round the bush... the roses still smell of shit.
Anjenha 44 Report post Posted December 22, 2011 The tele pic looks better, though I am not a teledial fan. Too much like old skool 'pepper pots' for me.

jhc 28 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Can someone explain the physics?? I know there is a difference in unsprung weight but can a few KG so low down on the car make such a vast difference to the way the car drives?? unsprung weight makes a massive difference, even with very small amounts. As had been said, a small amount of static weight transfers to a lot of rotational weight. The single most noticeable mod I ever did to the drift e30 was a set of magnesium oz superleggeras. 11kg per wheel, with tyres. Acceleration, cornering, braking, everything was improved a huge amount. Alongside increasing power to weight ratio, reducing unsprung weight is one of the most important things you can do to improve a car.
