May well be the cup then, you'd need to drop the center tunnel to gain access to replace it.

Yes it's me, the banned and damned, got a tech problem and need a soloution or help with it then just ask, selespeeds are a doddle and so far a 99% success rate.

Check the ball end for elongation at the gearbox selector end, it's rare but happens and the rest of the gears would still feel fine.
