  1. Here's a link to my thread about my polisher on another forum. http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/car-detailing/278176-first-use-of-my-rotary-polisher.html
  2. Your polisher is a DA (Dual Action) this is the safer option for a beginner, I went straight for a rotary, but the polish I use is very forgiving. As Alex said make sure the car is clean first, wash, clay, paint cleaner (optional) then onto polishing. If there is any dirt it will get picked up by the polisher and scratch the paint. Don't put any pressure on the machine for horizontal surfaces let the weight of the machine do the work, use enough polish to make sure its not dry but not too much, keep the machine moving, try and go in straight lines not arcs. Start slow with the lightest cut polish and lightest cut pad and work your way up to heavier cuts as your confidence grows, I tend to do an area about half a bonnet at a time. If the mop drags or pulls its too dry, keep checking the temperature to make sure its not too hot. But most of all have fun.
  3. looks good, I can see touches of my 166 in the interior and it makes me Which engine do you go for in the end?
  4. The pictures are not showing up for me You can link them to here by right clicking on the picture to get the link, then add them to your post. Glad you've discovered the joy of being an Alfa owner, but keep it under your hat we don't want the prices to rise.
  5. Mine's a 2.4, 10v not 20v, and it has a lovely growl as you go up the gears and does sound good for a diesel.
  6. Mines had an issue for 3 years and its never failed to start, from what I've been told we never get cold enough in this country for it to be a problem.
  7. On the glow plug issue my 156 flashes the glow plug symbol ten times every time I start the car, I've been informed one or more of the glow plugs has failed, its been like that for 3 years and has never failed to start so I just ignore it.
  8. Its going to be a very special shirt for me to be too sexy for it
  9. Luton, Watford its all up North to me Anything above the M4 is North
  10. The speakers in the passion wagon have to drown out a 25 year old diesel and the standard Fiat speakers are crap, so for that the Bose speakers would be a massive improvement.
  11. I'm going to watch the news for a while waiting for the story "Massive explosion in Luton", you've opened a can of worms now.
  12. No!, we've all seen pictures of your pyrotechnics.
  13. If my 147 dies you can have the doors, but they're probably worse than yours are One thing I'm keeping if it goes bang is the Bose speakers they are bloody brilliant and will be going in the passion wagon.
  14. Was a good night, good food, good company, plus some very useful information about chemistry that must be kept from LJ
  15. Not too soon I hope, want to get to 200,000 miles got about 7,500 to go. If the aerial does pack up is it an easy fix?
  16. I guess as Mr Corbett I only have to stick my hand inside another male.
  17. Not sure which is worse being George Michael or Mathew Corbett
  18. Love the wheels on Sooty's passion wagon
  19. Would that response be "unreliable rust buckets"?, that what I get from my brother in law I've had 5 Alfa in the last 5 years, 2 of them were scrapped due to rust but they were older models that weren't galvanized One I parked on its side The other two are still going strong, no rust and never let me down and they have 275,000 miles between them. I also have a 25 year old Fiat based motorhome that only needed a CV boot to pass its MOT. So not unreliable, not rusty but definitely different form the herd. I like to let the uneducated sheep have their biased opinions and enjoy the fact it makes second hand Alfas much cheaper.
