  1. Nah, as long as you can use a jigsaw its a piece of piss. The wiring is simple too if you go the amped route and a cheap amp can be had for pennies these days. well mounted amped 3 ways make a hell of a difference. I know of at least two cars that run competition setups using just 6x9's.
  2. Yup, just strip it back until you get something you can mount to. Cut a bit of mdf to fit and cover it in acoustic carpet if you want it to look pretty. I'd get a cheap two channel amp too if it was me. You can just use the high level inputs with the old speaker cables as long as you're not running silly power to them. What are the speakers? (make, rating etc)
  3. In a saloon? They will sound utter pants without something solid to mount them to. Can you make an mdf parcel shelf to go in there? Get a photo.
  4. 10 by 9's?! dont cut the metal, its important. Mount them on mdf risers, speakers screwed to metal sound gash. Without amplification they wont improve over the stock ones very much.
  5. Just tell him you can't buy it. oh no! Bad feedback.
  6. yes, if done right, they can look like an almera gti.
  7. Unsettling, but thanks. ... I think. It was part of a set. Two stands and a jack, for a tenner. The other stand ended up wedged inside an astra sill, the jack lasted a week. I felt safe with it supporting the e34s exhaust, with you under it. But thats as far as I would trust it.
  8. What he said! I've not been in this thread much at all... in fact reading sphinxs post was my first venture. If that's the level of temptation, I don't think I'll be back! A primera GT, fair play. Even an Almera GTi... but a bog standard 1.4... really??! edit> perhaps if it was £25 buy it now on ebay... and I was very drunk...
  9. furry dice ftw! Oh and for the record, I dont actually live on a council estate... since its been redeveloped only 10% of the houses are social housing. And they are all (including mine) owned by a housing association... Not-for-profit organisation completely separate from any council or govt.
  10. Thats quite common. I managed to blow up an expansion tank on my 528... admittedly I sat with the AC on full and engine running all day at a show on the hottest day of the year... but still...
  11. That would be cool, its from a 1.6 A3 but as far as I can tell its the same piece on the 1.8t's, tdi's and allsorts of others.
  12. Only available as part of a selection of hoses I dont want, for an obscene price.
  13. its a coolant hose link thingy, made from absurdly brittle plastic, on the top rad hose.
  14. Got one of these kicking about?
  15. meh, keep it, its shite I wouldnt trust it with your life, let alone mine No reason for it to be a ballache if it was all hooked up right. I dont know why people get so nervous about starting an engine swap... its just an engine. If it has fuel, spark and comppression, it will work!
  16. Good stuff Make sure the coolant is bled properly!
  17. have you seen how much vw charge for new ones? (admittedly, my comments here are based entirely on hearsay... my mot tester had a chipped passat that lunched its injectors and I could have sworn he said they were something like 100 EACH to replace. I'm pretty sure dead injectors is quite a common thing for chipped dervs though) )
