Morgan 46 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 All 159s have notoriously weak steering racks. If you're buying anything with more than about 50-70k miles on the clock, look for evidence that work has been done on it, or for higher mileage motors, replaced entirely. For a bit of light bedtime reading, you can't beat this write-up from Jamie Porter: http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_159_guide.shtml Bon chance, NB! K9d 108 Report post Posted January 22, 2015 I would say go for the 159, if you got the 156 you would know it isn't what you really wanted. I fancy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-Alfa-Romeo-75/271745540237?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D27c4c52dd71943548075af3c51def1cc%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D281571336706&rt=nc Put in a bid of £1k, but got outbid within a minute

Been in touch with the 159 seller, hopeful to view and test drive this weekend but at a 2k buy it now price That seems like a steal, but when you see the owner give him a slap firstly for saying it has a Volvo engine and secondly for his appalling grammar, "The car has not needed for nothing" what does that even mean ? Morgan 46 Report post Posted January 23, 2015 Bodywork looks a bit ropey on the grey 159, but most of it will buff out. Also, he seats and steering wheel look a bit more worn than 98k on the clock would suggest, so double-check the history if you can. Other than that, it looks OK. Worse than all of that is the fact the owner listens to Kiss , Piss, Fart FM and most commercial stations are all the bloody same, crap music endlessly repeated and "presented" by over excited morons who should all be shot. Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 20, 2015 Bearing in mind it's from an Alfa Specialist. They don't see many perfect cars in the workshop! JPs write up was based on an early one, the later ones had a lot of the issues ironed out by part upgrade in production so they were more sound, the main thing on them though is lower wishbones, siezing front (Brembo 4 pot) brakes and cambelts, ABS/VDC gremlins appear a lot but normally that is a fuse issue, and auto fold wing mirrors don't. But overall there are less issues with the 159 than the equivilant German offering.
