Handbrake Light Staying On.

Recommended Posts

As per the title, my handbrake light is staying on, it dims when I release the handbrake but doesn't go out.

I've taken of the cover and had a look at the switch it looks OK, is this problem a sign of issues else where or just a duff switch ?

If you are leaking fluid check the clutch and brake lines for evidence :) This will tell you where it's coming from

Spot on, thank you.

It was probably low because of having new pads fitted on the rear and them bedding in, I will keep an eye on it though.

Check the front right wheel arch brake pipework, otherwise it may be the brakelines which pass over the fuel tank.

The fluid loss is due to a leaky rear calliper on the passenger side. :(

At least you found it :)

My light didn't come on when my brake line was leaking :( brakes failed. LUCKILY only 200 yards from my door, after a 200 MILE journey :o

Don't know, it was part of the MOT fail so I haven't seen it myself.

Fortunately the knackered upper wish bone passenger side is one that they changed last year so that is getting replaced for no charge, their parts supplier was getting a rocket as I left there today.

It came from Motoquip but they don't use that supplier anymore, seems mine isn't the first.
