So the 156 may have to be put to bed, and need help

Recommended Posts

Yep that is an extreme possibility.

Due to rising fuel costs and my 110 Mile commute a week to and from work I Am Struggling to afford to run my 156.

And as it has had no interest in being bought I have no other choice but to put it into storage at the end of the month. I have been able to scrape together a tiny budget for a replacement, more economical car and then prehaps once things get better, when I have a new job or financial situation gets better the 156could come out to play on rare occasions.

it is a shame to be perfectly honest, but me and sara have been struggling financially and as I see it putting the Alfa away or selling it will be able to keep me from straying off cash wise.

So Yeah, my apologies but I may need a more economical car, Diesel or LPG....

Any Tips on more economical cars for around £500, or £1000 if i sell my 156

I know of the Peugeot XUD Diesel engines (Previous Experience)

cheers

my mates selling a 306, 2.0 hdi

I'd take a look at that, if I were you, Kev.

At the £500 mark, the only kind of DERV I'd touch would be French (Pug 306/406, Citroen ZX/Xsara/Xantia).

£500 DERV Golfs, Escorts, and all the rest of it are horrible. :tut: All the other major manufacturers have caught up with (and some have overtaken) the French, in terms of turbo diesel engineering, but you're looking at upwards of £1,000 for a decent non-French DERV motor.

Good news, the Alfa Stays but is to be SORN on 31st.

Win a nice little 2.0 HDi 306 estate for £410, high miles and sticking brake caliper but it could be worse.

Mind u i still winnibg on a Derv 156 and its not got long to go...

I'd do it for you (Northampton is only 20 miles from me), but I'd have to get it to wherever you are!

Although, if you just want it collected from them until you need it, then I'll happily get it and keep it here (we've lots of parking)
