A sad day.

Recommended Posts

I've possibly had the sadest day in a long time, no, my cat hasn't died and the goldfish is perfectly ok, I've had to deliver the worst news ever to 2 unfortunate Alfa Drivers that their actions (lack of) have ended the lives of 2 stunning Bellas.

A shame :(

Bellas need a lot of looking after... And must be treated as living breathing things. You can't drive them into the ground like some other Marques

Poor Alfas

If it was a GT they deserve to be spat in the face!

That reminds me, I must get oil tomorrow and fill Sophia up!

166 3.0 V6, cambelt tensioner failed 30 miles after fitting, a faulty part supplied by buypartsby.com, fortunately I didn't source the parts, the tensioning spring failed on it and unwound releasing all tension on the belt and allowing the cams to go out of sync, we'll see how the arguement with BPB goes as on examination of the tensioner afterwards it's not the SKF type which the box would suggest it was. £600 car needing £1500 work.

156 2.0 JTS Sele, low oil, big end knock and worn cams, other wear damage unknown. Basically new engine time. £1500 car in need of £1500.

A shame really as for both vehicles when both donks are done then they're 100% again, but cost rules out repair.

EB Spares are supplying the same bits so don't think your safe there either, I've had a few V6 aux belt teensioners from them fail soon afterwards, but they are always willing to replace faulty parts, but with BPB, will they be will to pay for the repair bill?

Totally different type of failure compared to the old style TS tensioners.

That's really bad news :nonono: luckily we don't get our parts from either :o

You'd think, after several complaints, they'd get the idea?

I know EB get a lot of their stuff from Fish Bros in Swindon, who as an authorised ARUK Dealer have to get their parts throuh the network (from Warrington normally), but what if they are reboxing shoddy cheap stuff like Sutton Auto Factors (BPB) seem to be.

Absolutely, there are certain things the hubs won't buy from them due to this...

( I see what you're doing :P I will not be riled :rasp: )

In fact Though Euro's are a prefered supplier to him indoors, He tends to get stuff for my car from Alfa specialists who know about the marque

Oh how I laughed when the Intermotor thermostat I picked up at my local motor factor packed up after a year and the replacement from ECP was the same part from the same manufacturer in a completely different box.
