    Hello

Welcome to the funny farm. Banter abounds and there isn't a lot that Mr Smaky doesn't know about Alfas (plus it sounds like he's in your area), so you're in the perfect place.
  2. DW, nothing mate. http://www.alfadriver.com/forum/index.php/topic/3451-so-do-we-have-stickers/
  3. That is all. (It's not aimed at you Matt, just a bit of an ongoing saga.)
  4. Welcome Matt. (Am sure I'm not the first to notice your "interesting" choice of username BTW ) Would like to hear more about the ICE as part way through doing something similar to mine. As LJ says, post some pics!
  5. Maybe, but still the need the hardware though, never mind having to manufacture elements of wiring loom (unless already present) - haven't looked at wiring diagram, but imagine it will take a few hours (dunno how much sparkies charge). And all for a 10yr+ old system, with a crap screen and out of date maps (unlikely they've been updated very often). Much as I prefer original, fully integrated equipment, IMHO going for something that is more difficult to obtain/fit and probably more expensive (not to mention worse spec), than you can get with aftermarket just doesn't make sense.
  6. If you really want to go this route, then here is a fleabay auction for (what I guess) is most of the "backend" from a 147 (still need to check for 6+ wires in the green mini ISO plug though) http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e7aab64de Working headunits tend to come up once every couple of months or so.
  7. Been keeping an eye on these Alfa systems for a year or so for the 147. Might be different with the GT, but unfortunately they won't work properly unless you have the relevant wiring on the loom, principally the GPS antenna connection and the 3 tel/mute wires in the green mini ISO plug (not to be confused with the 3 steering wheel control wires in the same plug). Then there's the GPS antenna itself (part of the roof mount aerial), plus I think the mic is in the courtesy light unit, and the steering wheel has two additional phone buttons on it (eight in total). I've been told that none/little of this "additional" stuff is usually fitted as standard, only if the unit was specified when the car was ordered. Whilst this makes sense, it's a PITA if you want to upgrade at a later date. So unless you can find a complete system, or a car that is being scrapped that has it in, you'd be better off with an aftermarket kit. Not forgetting that the Alfa unit can't play DVDs, the screen is crap and you have to put your SIM in the special holder for the phone to work
  8. I dunno, the "star" alloys that came on my 147 Sele are pretty fugly (but will do for winters) That's why I got myself a set of these: What they said though - refurb, as those "supersports" only really suit a 147 and your multispokes are way nicer.
  9. I know I'm not Mr Smaky, but I like it, nice work! You're quite good at this spraying malarkay, aren't you? Do you paint cars as well as f-off buses? If so, I have a little scrape on rear bumper/wheel arch and some bubbled stone chip repairs (plus rust marks) on the driver's door I wouldn't mind your opinion on. (Will post pics (& separately) shortly.)
  10. Decided to stick with my single din Alpine with a screen that slides out http://www.alpine.co...ions4/iva-d511r Means I have a brand new Alpine IVA W520R and 147/GT double din adaptor kit (fascia and cage) lying about. http://www.alpine.co...ions4/iva-w520r Oh, and a brand new reverse camera kit http://www.alpine.co...mera58/hce-c115. Am gonna gumtree/fleabay it, unless the OP (or anyone else) is interested? You'd also need a separate plug in box for sat nav, another one for bluetooth, plus a stalk adaptor kit.
  11. Yeah, kinda like that then
  12. Fine. I'm reporting you for piss-poor punctuation then. (Should be "fucker's", as is abbreviated form of "fucker is") (Will there be anyone left, I wonder?)
  13. K9d said I could do it, Miss.
  14. Although make sure you get the right colour plastic fascia (GT is darker than 147 IIRC) Plus a remote stalk adaptor kit (with the correct patch lead for your headunit). Alpine example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALFA-ROMEO-147-GT-Steering-Stalk-Control-Adaptor-CTSAR003-for-Alpine-Stereo-/250934751001?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a6ce06f19 There are three or four different configurations - (CTS)AR001 for non-canbus, AR003 for canbus, AR003.2 for phone controls (if you have those buttons on the steering wheel). Also, read the guide on AO about fitting an aftermarket headunit, as hold the front page - Alfa in non-standard wiring shocker! http://www.alfaowner...156-and-gt.html Finally, on my 147, Alfa didn't fit any excess wiring, so in this case the tel-controls wires and GPS antenna connection are missing.
  15. Personally I'm with Smaky. I think it looks great, as does the spray work, but the reflections/glare from usage might be too much for me. Maybe a halfway house would have been my ideal solution, with the lip and outer parts of the surround in silver, and the inner parts of the surround kept black (or maybe a short fade to black from the silver lip to avoid an obvious line). Would be a bugger to mask properly though. At the end of the day, if you like it, then it fits the bill.
  16. They have a sales@... e-mail address - reckon it's an order it job, but for the trade, although they might do business if you organised a group purchase.
  17. Don't see why not, as all previous 147/GT stereo equipment is interchangeable (provided you have all the wiring in place). Looking at it I think they've assumed that the GT replaced the 147 in 2007, although it might be different in China? Looks neatly but would need to hear the sound quality before purchasing. How much is it?
  18. Will do likewise with Rev (lite is free, full blown is nearly £30!! )
  19. 0-60 in 0.2 sec If the ELM 327 doesn't work properly it's a problem to do with Fiat/Lancia/Alfa needing a slightly different interface, or something tweaking http://forum.multiecuscan.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493 If you can't read certain ECUs on a car using an ELM interface (eg Engine yes, ABS no) then it's because pins need swapping around. http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx Some KL/VAGCOM cables are auto switching (ie is supposed to be able to read all ECUs), whereas the ELM 327 needs different adaptor leads in order to physically move the connections (hence the green, red and yellow adaptor leads, each giving a different pin configuration).
  20. It could be that you need those coloured patch leads to make the bluetooth work properly on the 156 (something to do with pin switching), as I doubt it is auto switching. Assuming I can get it working, can anyone recommend any particular iPhone apps? Shame MES isn't on the iPhone or Android, but understand what a colossal PITA that would be.
  21. FES has become MES (MultiECUScan) - http://www.multiecuscan.net/ This page talks about the cables: http://www.multiecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx I started off with a standard blue KL/VAGCOM ODB2 to USB lead, but this didn't always pick up all the desired ECUs (eg you can choose from engine, body, selespeed etc). So I went the whole hog and bought an ELM 327 pack with different coloured patch leads and it works no problem - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALFA-FIAT-DIAGNOSTIC-LEAD-MULTIECUSCAN-FIATECUSCAN-ELM-327-v1-4-ODB2-ECU-ENGINE-/251269336354?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3a80d1cd22. Just bought an ELM bluetooth interface http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-Torque-OBD2-OBDII-Diagnostic-Scanner-CAR-CODE-READER-for-ELM327-V1-5-/130884616668?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1e7954c1dc, which arrived today so will give that a whirl. Less restricted movement on laptop, plus can connect to iPhone to watch the revs etc but not very useful
  22. me too. putting the interior back takes priority though
