  1. Trawling the threads here to find a resolve for improving the gear change on the 147 . The problem of sloppy gears on threads seem to fade as to what might be a cure.Or am I am missing something? Losing third, getting blocked including 5th and slippin to 4th from 5th is just a pain. Gearlever definitely not stiff Can anyone help please.
  2. Would the recharge machine not show up a fault with the drier if it was full of water , I suppose that was a year ago but system is sealed does moisture naturally accumulate ? clutch is working by the way. Pvr smaky?
  3. Hi Alex how the hell are you, still fixing, as I am? Well didn't expect that as a fault Alex , but she does use oil. Just spotted this today, had forgotten post. Oh well, I expect we might have to live with that meantime. Iv just put my 147 back on the road now and trying to get the aircon colder, found the pollen filter to be clogged up , I don't think the system is up to much colder anyway, any more common reasons?
  4. Trying to resolve issue on JTS , ENGINE MANAGEMENT SHOWING CAT FAULT WITH HIGH READING. Suspect plugs which I have swapped but more likely some tappet buckets might not be functioning properly? Sounds a little like a diesel at idle. A little difficult to get through emissions but passed , car works well and go like proverbial
  5. Hi would anyone be able to point me towards sourcing anti roll bar links for a 1975 Alfetta saloon. They are just plain round rubbers on the end of an upside down u=shaped bracket on to the back axle . Cheers Pat.
  6. I might of known it , cant understand why they should be more expensive than the fronts , perhaps I can identify the bearing part number, that way I can source cheaper. I would have thought the front ones would have been cheaper than rears. Any tips in identifying which wheel other than the usual spin and listen
  7. Looks like I've picked the most obsolete bearing on an Alfa - or not. I can only find a rear bearing for 164 3.0l 1995 (abs ) on euro parts and they are a whopping 133 pounds. Can anyone help please with a cheaper match , assuming I can press the old out without replacing the whole hub, then surely that's a cheaper way to do it, has anyone done these on here please. As I get the hum in the car I'm assuming the noise is coming from the rear. When I spin each wheel I am only getting a slight rumble from the rear and jacking the front up there seams to be no noise, are rears or the fronts more prone to going on this car? Are their any other checks I can do to check whether fr or rear, apart from feeling movement on the hubs?
  8. Hi Alex , Paul has had to further investigate the disappearance of no.5 # glow plug tip which is missing , I suggested that if there is no compression there , then it may have tried to escape through the exhaust valve, sure enough there isn't, so its head removal i'm afraid.
  9. I have had some stuff in the past from a guy Vince He sometimes takes a while to send stuff to you , but generally helpful . Let me know and I'll send you his number.
  10. shall do thanks, its mostly white smoke , thinking it might be a dribbling injector?
  11. To add the egr fault doesn't show when running , the actuator test does nothing to egr valve solenoid or relay not even a click.
  12. Helping a guy with a 2.4 10v before face lift, it has a lumpy idle and is smokey. The diagnostic brings up EGR and Glow circuit. They don't bring on the engine light
  13. Any splits in your intake pipes, you've probably checked this but just thought id mention.
  14. Finally ! Success , new ECU arrived and fitted, hey by good luck the car works again, thank goodness, a bit by good judgment and some good luck. Now all I need to do is get that throttle potentiometer back in to its mounting ARRGGHH.
  15. I suppose that's all that can be said ha ha, feel like Im speaking to myself here.
  16. Ok this sight is slow to respond to to anything , so I have ordered an ecu ,will see what happens next.
  17. OK it looks like the response I get is slow here , I have gone ahead and replaced my ecu , should arrive tomorrow.
  18. Would I be right in thinking that the ecu management is the multi plugs on top of the throttle body, and not the usual box you find under the dash ?
  19. I have the pedal out and it tests out on resistance figures common with any values when you operate it. Having read the mot history and the timings to when I picked up the car, it looks like the ecu has been spiked when a patch has been put on the sill. So can anyone reminde where the ecu is , passenger side perhaps ?
  20. Anyway of testing the pedal out, apart from power in , any values I can check Ok moving on , Ihave been doing some voltage checks on the plug connecting the throttle potentiometer in the floor and the plug at the throttle body , they are all small voltages around 4 to 5 v mostly and some 1 to 2 v but not sure if these v are correct or not. I have a 147 here so may check them to compare . As you know I have swapped the throttle body with a working one at this point.
  21. Now that I have the car nearer at hand , I have not been able to connect Multiscan , something about port and connection issues. I have put Omnitec on to the car , and although its none specific with car manufacturer it comes up with codes relating to my issues. The codes P0120 1121 1122 0115 0340 They must be related but its not pinpointing the problem too closely. The car just idles , no tyhrottle response and hunts ever so slightly. I HAVE SWAPPED THROTTLE BODIES AND ITS UNCHANGED Any CLUES PLEASE , OH CHECKED PINS ON PLUGS ON TOP OF THROTTLE BODY , UNRELATED(sorry caps), is temp sensor not working , I think unrelated , and fan inoperable. That would be the resistor as I can wire across the plugs and that works.
  22. Sorry anyone who was looking at this , its off tomorrow to that great scrapyard in the sky. :Cry:I HAVE SAVE A MOMENTO , THE LEATHER GEAR STICK, I am going to replant it into my recent purchase , a 147 lusso 2.0l .
