  1. Ahh, I'm sure I've read that some people take the code chip out of the key and tape it to the steering column so that either key will then work.
  2. Don't worry the passion wagon is far from spotless, firstly its bloody massive and secondly because its old my to do list is so long that cleaning is at the bottom. But I will be expecting to be able to shave in the reflection from your car Smiffy.
  3. Cheers, will just have to hope the good key doesn't go south.
  4. Would be nice if we had a few more regular posters, can seem like a ghost town at times, but were moving in the right direction.
  5. Its only one of the keys the other one works fine, so I'm thinking a key issue not a car issue. Would the fact the keys have no batteries in have an effect ?
  6. Kathy went to start the 156 a few days ago and then came back telling me it wouldn't start, I went out the put the key in and noticed the code light was staying on. Tried the other key we have and it was fine, they have both worked in the past. Neither key has a battery in as the remote locking is screwed up and the alarm goes off randomly.
  7. I know what you mean about fuel, I had a V6 and loved it but it hurt my wallet every time I drove it. I currently have a 2.4 diesel 156 and a 2.0 petrol 147 the petrol is more fun when you want it to be, but overall I prefer the diesel loads of torque and 40+ mpg. Part of the fun of the 147 is it selespeed, flappy paddle gearbox. I think the GT is based on the 156 chassis which is a great handling one whilst being comfy at the same time.
  8. Welcome to AlfaDriver. The GT is a lovely looking car, I personally would go for a JTD, I've never had a JTS but don't think they're rated too highly. I have a 156 with a 2.4 JTD engine that is currently on 192,000 miles with no issues. The JTD or JTS won't come anywhere near your Clio in terms of power but how about a V6 GT, this one is within your budget http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201401030786160/sort/default/usedcars/radius/1501/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/make/alfa_romeo/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/page/1/postcode/ba116sx/model/gt/fuel-type/petrol?logcode=p And the GT has the Busso V6 and not some GM rubbish.
  9. Are you lost ?, you've been up and down that bit of road eight times Sounds good, but will attract some attention.

    Santa Pod Weekend

Sounds good, will depend on whether I'm working on Sat.
  11. I like my food to be swimming, can't do dry food.
  12. Glad to hear you ditched the lettuce, bloody unhealthy rubbish
  13. I'm sure there's a long list of codes to be read, the EML is quite a frequent visitor usually at high throttle/revs in 3rd, I think its mostly down the sticky vanes or lack of vacuum at the VNT, as I mostly drive the Sele I don't care so much
  14. I'm going to extra locks on the doors
  15. But I might want to see what I look like when sleeping
  16. Got in the car earlier and started it, looked at the EML hoping it would go out but no Drove 20yds changed to 2nd and the light went out. I keep saying to myself I'm going to get rid of the 156 when it hits 200,000 miles but it runs so well, feels so good and is a pleasure to drive I know I won't get rid.
  17. Yep that's good with me, if I get there early I can just have a kip in the passion wagon.
  18. EGR is blanked off, I was thinking stuck VNT. May be making a trip to Swindon soon, if so will pop round.
  19. I don't drive my 156 very often, Kathy does, so when I was out in it just now I thought I would give it a few revs to clear out some of the crap this usually help the VNT work better. Came off a roundabout and revved it to the red line, 5K rpm, in 2nd, held it there whilst I had a look in the mirror to see how much smoke I was making, not a lot. Then I looked back at the dash to see the EML on, nothing unusual there, lifted off did a slow gear change to 3rd allowing the revs to drop to tick over, this will normally clear the light. Not this time though tried a few more goes but still no joy, drove the last little bit to my house, stopped the engine and then restarted it but still no joy. Will see what its like tomorrow, I don't want it to die yet its only got 7,500 miles to go until it reaches 200,000 and possible retirement.
  20. Not the bigger T then ?
