Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 I still have my old pump which I have swopped about two years ago, the pump/motor is still running, but don't seem to actually pump fluid from the reservoir (reservoir level not dropping). I know that the brushes on the pump is replaceable, but is the actual pump section also refurbishable? Would be great if I can have it refurbished at a lower cost than a new or other secondhand pump and have it as a spare one?

Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 There is a guide on replacing the pump motor brushes on this site, but your issue sounds like a dodgy EV0 seal.
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 I don't know, as I said, this is a old/spare pump. The one currently in the car works fine. Just trying to see if I can fix the spare one. Opened it up and the motor part is a little bit wet of oil so I think the pump section might have a broken seal or something. Must still get a torx socket to remove the pump section and see if I can open that Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 I also didn't notice any leaks around the actuator Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 The EV0 seal wouldn't have any visible signs if it was leaking.
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 Ok, I'll have a look, its just a matter of loosening and pulling out right? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 It may spray oil out when you remove the valve so beware
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Ok, I did also notice today with pump currently in the car, it does primes every second gear change but does not seem to come on when I open the driver door or switch key to on position? Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 It was parked in the garage whole night so I noticed it when first thing this morning Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Would it not come on due to pressure being ok or what you think? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 If it was left overnight and you opened the door and turned the key then it should have primed, I'd replace the relay.
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 Swtched the pump and starter relays around with others, pump priming again with key on mar, but still nothing when opening the door... Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Pump started to prime again, looks like I have a bad connection on the loom, started priming again after I disconnected it and sprayed it with some Q20 lubricant, still comes and goes, will have to take the whole loom out and inspect for possible damage to wires Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 19, 2014 Check the wires into the base of the pump relay holder
Angelom 7 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 Turned out the pump was indeed knackered, switched the pump section and motor sections between the two pumps, all ok now. Cant see anything wrong with the loom but will still replace the two relays as well just to make sure everything is 100% Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
