Selespeed Pump Repair

Recommended Posts

I still have my old pump which I have swopped about two years ago, the pump/motor is still running, but don't seem to actually pump fluid from the reservoir (reservoir level not dropping).

I know that the brushes on the pump is replaceable, but is the actual pump section also refurbishable?

Would be great if I can have it refurbished at a lower cost than a new or other secondhand pump and have it as a spare one?

There is a guide on replacing the pump motor brushes on this site, but your issue sounds like a dodgy EV0 seal.

I don't know, as I said, this is a old/spare pump. The one currently in the car works fine. Just trying to see if I can fix the spare one. Opened it up and the motor part is a little bit wet of oil so I think the pump section might have a broken seal or something. Must still get a torx socket to remove the pump section and see if I can open that

Ok, I did also notice today with pump currently in the car, it does primes every second gear change but does not seem to come on when I open the driver door or switch key to on position?

Would it not come on due to pressure being ok or what you think?

If it was left overnight and you opened the door and turned the key then it should have primed, I'd replace the relay.

Swtched the pump and starter relays around with others, pump priming again with key on mar, but still nothing when opening the door...

Which relay should enable the door switch to start the pump, the bigger 50A or the smaller red one?

Pump started to prime again, looks like I have a bad connection on the loom, started priming again after I disconnected it and sprayed it with some Q20 lubricant, still comes and goes, will have to take the whole loom out and inspect for possible damage to wires

Turned out the pump was indeed knackered, switched the pump section and motor sections between the two pumps, all ok now. Cant see anything wrong with the loom but will still replace the two relays as well just to make sure everything is 100%
