Stuck Balljoint - Help!

Recommended Posts

See photos attached. Trying to remove this from the strut and I simply can't shift it. Tried balljoint splitter, no go, soaked in WD40 and beat the crap out it with a mallet - no joy. Jacked it underneath the stump with trolley jack and iron bar then lumped it with mallet - no joy. In a pique of rage I angle ground the top off thinking I may have a chance - no joy. Now truly stumped. Any suggestions AD masses?

Heat

Warm it up blow lamp or torch, then tap with a hammer or jack it up.

Think to be honest your going to have to get it drilled out.

Have you tried putting a 2 nuts on it tightening them together on the thread leaving some thread then try doing it up see if you can get some movement on it .

Have you got any plus gas as this seems to work better in my opinion with corrosion than wd at loosening things.

You may find if you try drilling it, it might create enough heat and vibration to help free it.

Did you use a scissor type joint splitter or the fork type?

I used to find them a pain till i realised i was being too gentle.

hammer (heavier is better) belt crap out of metal surrounding ball joint. Than a gentle tap up to see if loose (seeing as yours not attached to anything).

even with claw hammer it only takes me 15-20 secs to free one now
