2spark 6 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 My rear shock absorber popped. Was just pulling out of a junction when it happened so luckily wasn't travelling at speed as it cut my tire off the rim.....joy. Not going to do it myself but need to drive it about a mile to a garage. Will I cause any major problems by driving it?

Morgan 46 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 Back on topic, I wouldn't drive a car any distance with a popped shock and a shredded tyre. Does your garage not have a recovery truck?

Smaky 73 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 If the shock has popped, did someone build it with their windy gun then after striping the thread on the shaft try claiming on the warranty only to find out that if you've built it with windy tools then it's not covered by warranty and it's your own fault it's knackered? Or do you mean the spring has snapped and jumped out towards the tyre? I suppose it's the latter and no you should not drive it, ALSO the PAIR of springs should be replaced
2spark 6 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 The collar on the shock that holds the spring has popped. planning on doing both sides at the same time. new springs as well or will just new shocks be ok? moneys tight!
Smaky 73 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) If it's like this... then a pair of shocks will surfice £55 each from Alfa and I have a set next to me. Then all you need to do is this... Edited February 28, 2013 by Smaky
