Coolant Leak

Recommended Posts

156 JTS SS, not driven for 3-4 days, opened bonnet for general check before driving and discovered coolant tank empty! Topped it up to the required level, started car and noticed water drip around the oil filter zone. Peeked under the engine and saw it coming from behind the black plastic belts cover. Reckon it is the water pump? Guess have to bite the bullet and go for the full timing belt, etc pack replacement? Last belt job from service history was done about 40K ago! Yes, been driving on a razors edge lately!

1. From where and which parts to get, including special tools like cam lock, etc?

2. Is there a precise clear write-up of replacing the timing belt/water pump replacement procedure anywhere? If not, would Smaky or someone familiar with this procedure kindly oblige?

Thank you.

You need Balance belt kit, Cambelt kit, Variator (if it sounds like a diesel), water pump, antifreeze, Specific JTS camlocks, cambelt and balance belt tensioner tools, pulley holding tool, and that is just the special tools.

But the JTS has another prime coolant leak suspect, the plastic water jacket accross the front of the engine, cuningly placed right above the exhaust manifold thes are prime to spliting the seam.
