  1. Done that, works 100% Sent from my HUAWEI G7-L01 using Tapatalk
  2. Had the same problem, remember Smaky? All good after I had alternator serviced, also found loose wire on alternator, not sure if it was the alternator itself or the loose wire Sent from my HUAWEI G7-L01 using Tapatalk
  3. Guys, my rev counter chip for the rear lights failed, I then tried to fix it by putting another chip from a spare rev counter, but... buggered up the board. I can get a whole cluster from a facelift (red dials) for really cheap, will this work or is it modifyable? All the lights seemed to work, but battery and ecu lights differ, in different positions... Any ideas? Sent from my HUAWEI G7-L01 using Tapatalk
  4. Heres the correct link: http://www.powerbrake.co.uk/downloads/Speed_and_Sound_article_0811.pdf Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  5. Is ir not just possible to swop the chip as I have got a spare rev counter for parts Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  6. Is the regulator easily sourced by you guys and what does it go for? I hear its a pain to get hold of over here Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks, will try tomorrow Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  8. Whats the best, easiest, quickest way to get it out? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  9. Looks like it was alternator all the time, battery light came on all of sudden last week and not going out Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  10. Anyone? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  11. My sele had the left tail light on ever so slightly, changed the rev counter. All well. While afterwards same thing happened on right tail light. Cant see any burnt chips though on the new board. Both sides using the same chip or different chips? Still got the old board if I can maybe just replace the faulty chip on new board? Here is pic with clearly blown chip for left tail light, which chip is the one for the right tail light if not the same? Opposite side? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  12. Yep, failure light is on, but that is due to right rear tail light chip that has blown on rev counter a long time ago, already took the bulb out Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  13. Update: Battery tested fine, alternator also chargingfine. Also no interior or exterior lights that could drain battery. Still have flashing/dipping spedo needle though when high beams / indicators on. Earth wires seems fine, all lights wiring also seems fine... Maybe faulty spedo? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk

  15. May have find the problem... Yikes, seems to be... only a dodgy battery... In the meantime bought new (2nd hand) 2008 Toyota Corolla 1.6 Mmt Gearbox... I know, I know... but having had the selespeed for almost 6 years, I thought: Why not? Anyhow, Sele has been standing for a while, me not wanting to drive with ecu light on/dodgy maf, hence flat battery... Had battery fully charged at workshop, car starts fine, No ecu light... Will have battery fully tested this morning, if faulty, replace with new one, if not, trip to auto elec to check for correct charging/alternator. What is the correct size battery? Some battery shop replaced battery 3 years ago with smaller (646, 55aH) battery, I know there was a bigger one in there, I think 652...? Will update Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  16. Not maybe too much exhaust gasses causing the problem? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  17. How can I diagnose the lambda without diagnostics? Oh, forgot to say that cat box has been removed when freeflow exhaust system was fitted. Never had any problems after it was fitted until now... Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  18. What's your thoughts on the light mostly coming on when decelerating towards stops or "freeing" (foot off accelerator and brakes) on downhills? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  19. Thank you, will do Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  20. Same problem here. Light came on few times while driving, I switch off, restart and light goes off after a while. Didnt realy bother to investigate further. Looks like maf has completely died of this. Got new maf, exact same problem again. Light stays on with 1km old maf... Can it be faulty lambdas? Light would come on when decelerating against downhill towards a stop, maybe because of excessive exhaust gasses? Must say though, that previous maf was a Pierburg make, and latest was Bosch, got it from Goldwagen, a VW / Opel / Vauxhaul parts store so it could be fake, as apparently the Opel corsa 1.7dti uses the exact same maf as the 156...? Also recently started noticing a fuel fumes smell coming from near fuel cap/wheel arch... Read it could be a faulty fuel pump... Could it all be related? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
  21. Uhm, how do I or can I attach a pdf doc?
  22. Here's a copy of an article of two SA brothers' Alfas that featured in a local car magazine. I drool every time I read this http://www.powerbrake.co.uk/downloads/Speed_and_Sound_article_0811.pdf
  23. Need some help/advice pleas Some rattling noise developed ftom brother's 155 twinspark crank pulley, he says comes from the toothed gear/pulley behind the big one. Warned him not to drive the car but as you can imagine... Phoned me now to say he got stuck, noise got worse, car lost power while driving and cut out. Still starts but no power... Your thoughts? Also advised him to maybe do engine swop cause he experienced quite few problems over last year. I can get a accident damaged 2000 model 156 for R6000 zar, wich is quite a good price if the motor is still as good as the seller says, plus I can hack all the bits and pieces as spares for my 156. Is the two motors (155 / 156) swopable and if so what needs to be changed/swopped?
  24. Got MAF replaced by a new Pierburg sensor for R1200 ZAR, same part also listed for a 1.7 dti Opel corsa utility. Car running and idling fine again.
