  1. Somewhere I came across the dimensions of the brushes required, but I'm buggered if I can find it now... Have you got the measurements...?
  2. Or for the sandals and walk socks type a Daimler SP250...
  3. A Series 1 Land Rover, driving round the paddocks picking up the firewood... I was about 12, and needed both feet to push the clutch in...
  4. Warm... Welcome Unity, I'm a newbie too, but have already been made to feel like part of the family...
  5. He's a lucky bastard then... Ever thought of emigrating to NZ Smaky...?
  6. Sorry, no... You need a laptop, an OBDII/usb cable and either FiatECUScan or AlfaDiag to plug in and read the error codes. Alternatively you could take the car to your local stealers, let them rob you, make an incorrect diagnosis and advise you that whatever part they've decided to sell you is only available as part of a major assembly... At a cost higher than the value of your car...
  7. Thanks again Smaky. Now all I have to do is earn, (or otherwise aquire), the money for everything I need... Wish I hadn't decided on a desktop for my last computer purchase...
  8. Thank you Smaky. Do you have ( or can you post a link to), the Fiat part number for the accumulator...? I'll try the indie importer in Cambridge on price, but I suspect it could possibly be cheaper to buy in the UK and ship it out... Perhaps armed with the appropriate part number I could ask the local robber barons for a price, as they are of course Fiat agents as well as Alfa... and Volvo... and Land Rover... and Jaguar... Strange combination, now that I come to think of it...
  9. And here's me thinking it was a Honda...
  10. ...the Desmosedici is supposed to have 200hp...
  11. E32 740 gave 6.7 mpg if you kept your foot nailed when you weren't braking... Best I got was 29.9 mpg.
  12. This 'ere is the one I'd really like... Or I would settle for this slightly older model...
  13. They actually built quite a few parallel twins, starting with a 175 racer in 1957, then 250cc, 350cc, 500cc and 700cc prototypes in the 60's. Apparently Ing. Taglioni wouldn't have anything to do with the design work for the road bikes... He already had his belt drive v-twin pantah design ready to go. The first release of both the 350 and 500cc in road form was in 1975 in GTL version. The GTV version had valve springs, and came in both 350 and 500cc. All this according to 'The Ducati Story', by Ian Falloon.
  14. Yeah I'm kind of expecting that... Not quite as bad as it looks, they did spend 5.5 hours on it, mostly unplugging and cleaning electrical connections. They charge like wounded bulls though... And our dollar is only worth about 50p, so halve the figure for pounds... I bought the car at auction... My first check over it told me that the timing belt etc. hadn't been touched since new with the mileage at 91000km and the car 12 years old, so I did all that first up at a cost of $1700NZ, parts alone, through an independant importer. Guess I'm up for some other expenditure now too... Also noted that the front end is saggy, and one of the lower suspension links in the rear is bent. Oh, and the release bearing is noisy too... Not too bad, but a noticable swishing noise as the clutch is depressed... Ah well, wasn't really after a project, but I'll run with what I've got...
  15. Thanks again Anjenha... Here she is as I bought her...
  16. Thank-you Anjenha. If I could figure out how to upload pics on here...
  17. Great smiley...!!! The best bit about living here is that I know plenty of people working in the wineries and a local bottling plant, so I get offered cheap boxes of wine quite regularly... And can buy the really good ones cheap at source... Not sure that my liver appreciates it so much though...!!! I know, travelling is tiring, it's always a relief to get home and relax...
  18. I've had an E32 730i with manual box, was a good car, although a little underpowered. I destroyed it after a very long week at work by having a momentary snooze at the wheel... OH SHIT, CORNER...!!! Hit a bank, then a wooden power pole appeared front and centre. Pole snapped off at bonnet height. Engine left an imprint on the firewall. Car totalled... I got a graze on my cheek from the 'A' pillar, and a fractured rib from the door grab. Went off the road at 60mph, and it was an '89, so no airbags. Strong car...! Replaced it with an E32 740, still the fastest car I've owned @ 245kph and it would do that in 4th or 5th. Wish it wasn't speed limited... Too many things wrong with it though, basically worn out suspension, transmission and brakes, radiator leaking, thermostat housing same, and hood lining sagging. Plus cracked screen... Too expensive to fix, parts aren't cheap here, and old 7's are worth peanuts. I'd own another though... Would love an E34 M5... Or the engine out of the 740 in an E30... 1989 730i, manual 5 speed, limited slip, cruise control. 1993 7401A
  19. To be honest, Hastings is a bit of a dive... The only real attraction is a LOT of vineyard/wineries... Napier is a much more attractive town, largely rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. NZ is a great place to live.
