Mine's an "Azzurro Gabbiano" (sliver/blue) 147 Sele with 156 multispokes, reg ending 4LFA ( / ? ) Such a hard colour to tell with, but mine will be quite shiny too If we want to park together, we'll have to arrange a pre-event meet point, as it's first come first served. (Perhaps Biggy could suggest somewhere, as it's his manor?) Happy to PM mobly no to those that want to meet early or at the show, provided it doesn't end up in any phone boxes or toilet cubicles

Thanks Mrs A. Not showing, just going, so no need to register, Will be there sometime before 10am.

I'm still coming for Sharnbrook Sunday. Do I need to register? Still got the directions to yours from last yr Mrs A - what time is everyone departing from there?

What happened to the pin-map thread from the old forum, showing where everyone was?

I have partly written a guide, which I can send you orgigeorgie as a starting point? Def needs tweaking though, as it's more a set of reminder notes tailored for my mate, rather than a step-by-step guide for everyone.

Heat/sunlight will also mess it up (something to do with chemical reactions changing composition), but it usually results in things drying too quickly and being a bitch (technical term) to remove - especially HD cleanser. Be keen to see how you get on with the buffing pad K9d.

Not wishing to teach the master how to suck eggs (or something like that), but are you applying too thick a coat of wax, or not leaving it for long enough to get hard? Alternatively, I find that no matter how hot I boil wash the cloth, the wax never comes out, and eventually starts smearing. So I end up throwing the cloths away after a few coats have been removed and using a new one.

Use different pads for different compounds/polishes. Generally, most compounds/polishes are applied by machine, and removed by hand buffing with a microfibre cloth. Did you remove the old polish/wax with an HD cleanser before putting the cutting compound then wax on? If not, might explain why you were getting a worse finish.

Is AD part of the mob now?

Niiice thread drag BTW. 3hrs? You're def doing it wrong (unless you were referring to just one wing mirror ) Not experienced the same problems with HD Wax that you have K9d. Now have the Meguiars DA machine polisher, so after the usual wash, clay and HD cleanser I am now using the Meguiars microfibre pads with firstly Cutting Compound and then Finishing Wax on the machine, before resorting back to elbow grease and HD wax. Either my vision and/or eye for detail isn't as good as yours, or the light metallic silver/blue colour is disguising it really well, but I can't see light swirls when I've finished. Could your HD wax have gone off?

Welcome aboard paul_o Apparently tasteful MiTo mods are also available in pink.

Yeah, weigh each corner, adjust height/dampening, repeat until correct, go for a test drive, realise it's too damn hard for town road use, refit originals, wonder where the day has gone and why you're back to square one.

Adjustable coilovers FTW?

Thanks M. Apologies for reporting it as spam!

Well dodgy. Would never buy a "good as new" Golf Derv from him.

IIRC, braided hoses give you more stopping power/feel because they don't expand when pressure is applied, unlike conventional hoses (although the expansion is minimal). Grooves and cross drilling are all about consistency of performance. Although in theory they would present less surface area for the pad to grip on, the edges of the grooves/holes increase friction, but far more importantly, allow heat to escape from the disc, thereby delaying brake fade when worked hard. I'm sure Smaky will be along in a minute to set me straight! Green Stuff pads are popular on the VW scene, and I haven't seen many wheels covered in green brake dust, so might be worth checking out.
