Cas 2 Report post Posted March 6, 2015 I have a slight metalic clunk, very brief, on gear changes , Not all gear changes . Gearbox shifts properly up and down, just this noise like a solid click as it goes in gear. Does it if you change gears with the engine not running. No bearing noises or poor syncro behavior. Any ideas?
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 6, 2015 It's normal, you wont hear it normally because of the engine.
Cas 2 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 It's a little metalic, almost sounds like a pressure plate /clutch fork problem. A bit like a blow-off valve rattle. * What causes the noise that i am hearing ? If the clutch rod is out, meaning freeplay will this cause it? I am not greatly worried and used to it , car works fine , no issues .
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 The only way you'd get free play on the clutch fork was if the actuator was removed as the rod has positive spring pressure all the time, if you have a creak from the clutch then it's just dry, which isn't a bad thing, you really have nothing to worry about. Cas 2 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Smaky, thanks. it is a fair sort of noise and i guess you can hear it from outside of the car. Otherwise it is all great.
