Glow Plug Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Very new here, im looking for a 1.9JTD 159. I have now found one potentially. My question is when speaking to the owner he said that very rarely on a cold morning the trip comp might say 'pre heating glow plug error/ issue'. I have spoken to a specialist who said its likely just one or more plugs need replacing and they are around £20 each. Has anyone else had any issues with this? not the end of the world but I do like to know what im buying as thoroughly as possible!

Thanks, Sam

Mines had an issue for 3 years and its never failed to start, from what I've been told we never get cold enough in this country for it to be a problem.

It's usually 1 of 4 things, either the glow plugs need replacing, but that is always accompanied by poor starting and lumpy running, £8 - £12 per plug depending on brand,

Bad earth strap for the engine,

Glow plug control unit internal fault, around £120 for a new one,

Glow plug/injector harness fault, usually a dodgy connector to the #3 injector.
