Need Help Regarding Several Issues With Ss

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I recently got my Selespeed fixed after a botched job at an alfa garage, everything was done wrong. I took it to a specialist who claims he know selespeed. He has a fair bit of knowledge.

They put it all together correct and adjusted everything so that it should work right.

After i got it back it sometimes made a crunch noise when changing from 2-3 - 3-2 - 3-4 and 4-3. They took it back and adjusted the pressure on the gears from 3-2 and 2-3 and a littlebit from 4-3 3-4. It still crunches if i dont let the car change down when it wants to and it appears that i cant drive the car in any other way than the way it want without it damaging itself, if i try to change from 4th to 3rd then it has a 50/50 chance of crunching(it seems). He tells me that these cars(selespeed) are supposed to make crunch noises if the gearing is rough, that its nothing to worry about, i believe that is bullshit but then again i cant go and say that right to his face. I spoke to another SS owner i know and he confirmed that his car never crunches. Anyone else have an opinion here and might know what the reason is?

Now to the second issue i have. Its winter here in norway now, with -10 and up. Im having issues with the car not wanting to go into reverse, sometimes it tries and makes a noise similiar to what a manual gearbox makes when it wont go into gear, and sometimes it wont even try. It seems if i get the car properly warmed up at 90 degrees(celcius) it works fine. He had no idea what this might be, possible fix was the change the switch(?) under the gearstick, he already checked it but it could be faulty, that was his best guess.

Also when the car is cold i get issues with it skipping second gear at first "takeoff" and sometimes when standing still it will go into 4th then third and then second when selecting neutral.

I have no idea what could cause any of this.

The actuator is brand new! and the gearbox recently fitted with only a couple months of wear(gearbox only 30-40kkm old).

Anyone have any ideas to what is causing this?

Sincererly,

Kristian Lyngaas

Hi don't know much about selespeed sorry hopefully smaky will be around soon:thumbs:

But what I do know is that they shouldn't crunch gears, maybe the oil cannot cope with the cold?

If i remember right it crunched before it got really cold too, and it crunches when hot(90c)

Supposed to crunch - BOLLOX, he clearly does NOT know how these systems operate. If it's crunching then either the clutch rod is not set correctly or the synchros are knackered is everything else in the gearbox is OK.

Adjusted the pressure on the gears - ???, never heard of that and I've worked seles since conception, so again he's lied to you again, there is NOTHING adjustable inside the gearbox.

Not selecting reverse and all the other random changes will occur from any one of three faults, either the clutch rod isn't set right (this also causes crunching), broken selector support loop inside the center casing (causes missed gears and random selections) or from front bearing/bell housing wear (which also causes crunching AND random selections), it's easily spotted by a damaged clutch speed sensor

He told me he adjusted the pressure on the pushers.

Sadly there are no one else around that know anything about these cars so im sort of stuck... And driving the car to you is sort of a long way :/

Had a quick look around and it being my first time using the Multiecuscan(FES) i didnt really know what to look for and its freezing outside so was only a quick look but i found out it have missed the reverse gear 76 times...

Would be super if you could tell me some of the parameters to look for and then i could go out and write it down or such ;)
