Guest Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Hi guys, A little niggle, but bloody annoying!... Last week, noticed the rev counter didn't light up in the dark. No light's when side lights are on or off. All other instrument lights on as they should be. "liberated" some bulbs from the local scrappy and went for a screw driver to replace bulbs. Before I got home, the rev counter lit up as it should. This has happened a couple of times now, on, then off. I've had a look at the connectors at the back and all looks to be OK (but obviously something isn't). Any idea's? Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Loose earth wire at the plug I'd guess, worth checking before high resistance melts the socket.
Guest Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Pulled the rev counter out. All the wires look to be well seated in the holes. No bent or dirty pins. Cleaned all the contacts with pressurised air, both connectors and the pins at the rev counter. Changed the bulbs (just in case. All the warning lights light up fine, just the illuminating bulbs for the numbers/background whatever you call it doesn't, just as if all three bulbs are blown. Still doesn't work.... Am now looking for a fucking big hammer.
Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Check the board for burning and ensure the earth is available at the plug.
Guest Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Check the board for burning and ensure the earth is available at the plug. Board looks OK, don't have a multimeter and wouldn't know how to use it, if I did.
