  1. Thanks Smaky, for that illuminating and highly informative reply. That's put my mind at ease and I'm glad I posted it here and not on the 'other' site - I can just imagine the replies I'd have had there, things like "Yeah, sounds like your ECU / speedos knackered, you need a new one." and "Thats what happens with these newfangled fly-by-wire thingys, they're not real Alfas!"
  2. Any progress on the T-shirt thing?
  3. Hi all, Was messing around last night with the AlfaOBD Android app, and it showed that the car's mileage (according to the ECU?) is around 126000 km. That works out to around 78750 miles. The odometer in the dash reads 84717 at the moment. I seem to remember the same scenario when I last plugged her into MultiEcuScan. Could the ECU have failed and been replaced after only 6 or 7 k, or is there another reason for the error? I don't know if the two are independant or if the speedo get its readout from the ECU. If the ECU / speedo had failed, at that point the car would still have been under warranty, right? So you'd think Alfa would have corrected the figures, perhaps, if thats possible? Another possibly related snag is the infocenter displaying mpg in km/l, which, I've been led to believe, can be cured by fitting a new speedo. So, if I were to do that, (not likely, as I don't give a fuck about mpg and a new unit would probably cost a small fortune), would the mileage on the new speedo update to the car's actual mileage, or is that something only Alfa could do? Sorry if it all sounds a bit garbled and twisted, I'm on the last night of my weeks' nightshift and am feeling the strain a little.
  4. (1) Where's the search function for the forums, if there is one? (2) Anyone got any ideas on freeing up a seized sump plug (2004 JTS)? When I last serviced her I couldn't undo the plug and ended up having to suck the oil out using a pump. I've managed to round out the allen socket hole without it shifting. Ground some flats onto it but still no luck. Tried heat as well. Don't want to go too friggin' medieval on it in case I crack the alloy sump. Next option I guess is to weld a nice big nut onto the plug, unless anyone has a better idea. Can't afford a new, or even second hand sump at the moment so that's not really an option right now.

    Misfire

Cheers Smaky, got one on order.

    Misfire

OK, swapped the coils and, yes, no.2 cylinder now has the misfire. Took the plug out while I was at it, its an NGK and looks OK, but I might replace them after Christmas. New coil on order. Thanks for the suggestion, by the way. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself, just having one of those mornings I guess.

I'll try it and get back to you.

    Misfire

Morning all, Car was running fine until I started her up this morning to go to work, with a misfire, then MCSF and flashing engine symbol. Plugged in the good ol' OBD thingamajig, and I've got a misfire on cylinder 3 (P0303). Anyone know if its more likely to be the coil pack or spark plug before I start ordering bits?
  9. Cheers all, yes I have already spotted a few names I recognise. Never seen a site with so much useful info before, will definitely come in handy as both her car and mine need a couple of minor jobs doing when I get the time and weather.
  10. Especially this bit "I'VE ALSO TRICKED THE CAR OUT FULL OF L.E.D. LIGHTS UNDER CAR , IN THE HEAD LIGHTS,FRONT GRIL, INSIDE CAR YOU CAN SEE VID OF THESE ON FACE BOOK"
  11. ...this doesn't belong to anyone on here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ONE-OFF-ALFA-ROMEO-156-V6-FULL-GTA-BODY-KIT-12-MONTHS-MOT-SHOW-CAR-/111234149642?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19e6126d0a
  12. R.I.P. fella. Loved the movies, agreed they weren't to everyone's taste, but I thoroughly enjoyed them, they were lots of fun. Might have a "Fast and the Furious" - athon this weekend in memory.
  13. Hi all, literally just stumbled across this site whilst reading a thread on AO in which someone asked where Smaky was, and AlfaDriver was mentioned. Anyway, me and the mssus have had a couple of 147s (1.6 TS Lusso for her) and a 156 (2004 JTS Veloce for me) for a few years now. Used to frequent Alfa156.net a lot, but unfortunately it seems to be slowly dying a death, which meant I've been forced to go to AO more and more, UNTIL NOW! Woohoo!
