  1. bonnet looks just like a 146, but without the front shield
  2. bad fiat boys... we never know when they fit those kits. we could even be paying the "classic" one for the price of the "normal" without never knowing that... thanks!
  3. isn't doing a selespeed problems section a bad advertising for alfa?...
  4. it's a TS. but M2 (cf2 1.8 engine) has the 2 otpions available
  5. yes, looks that have the same number of parts, cambelt, idler and tensioner...
  6. maybe only Smaky can answer this seen on ePER, there are 2 kinds of cambelt kits, one is labelled «Classic Line» and is much cheaper than the other. what's the difference?
  7. I guess this explains it: «One thing to keep in mind about wideband O2 sensors is that they can be fooled in the same way as a conventional oxygen sensor by air leaks between the exhaust manifold and head, and by misfires that allow unburned oxygen to pass through into the exhaust. Either will cause the sensor to indicate a false lean condition which, in turn, will cause the computer to make the engine run poorly, idle badly, or fuel constantly rich.»
  8. it appears that my 156 has a leak at the top of exhaust manifold. I would like to know your expert opinions of this messing with lambda readings, as I got lambda related fault codes (p0130, sensor signal low, p0170, sensor integrator high, and p1172 low as well) and a jumping idle when hot... thank you very much!
  9. already been told that the gearbox has to come out but not the cambelt. but thanks, anyway
  10. or should I say "come out" or "be taken out"?
  11. sorry Ned, I don't know you. does Ned have the same problem or is this a dumb question?
  12. does the cambelt have to come off for it to be changed?
  13. Hi all! today, accelerating at about 5000 rpm, when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear, rpm mantained at 5000 rpm for about two seconds, only then it dropped a bit so I could accelerate a bit further. could the clutch be slipping? Thanks!
  14. what fault codes should I expect in that case?
  15. have made some research and if the spark plugs are sothy (greasy black) that may indicate a bad lifter or droping valve...
  16. I'm going for spark plugs inspection to diagnose any problem with lifters/valves... what do you think?
  17. thanks! will check the manifold too!
  18. thanks for the reply smiffy. she has been serviced all arround (belts, variator, spark plugs...) only 20 000 km ago. also been told could be a dropped valve, bad cams, or just an hydraulic lifter bad on oil for a moment...
  19. the other day, when starting the engine, a severe tapping (metal hitting metal) noise, never heard before, coming from the top of the engine and more audible near the exhaust manifold. 2nd start, the same noise. I quitted and grabbed my 146 for the task. when returned home, started the engine again and noticed that the noise was going away as the engine was warming up. the day before had a ride with no issues at all. next day to the "tap" day, started the and run the engine all day with no strange noises... relief!... what should I be fearing?
  20. I guess I was fearing the obvious...
  21. Am I risking a cambelt failure?...
  22. my bella is whining from the belts area at idle. the noise only appears when the engine warms up at a minimum temperature (~80ºC). any thoughts? she is a 146 1.6 TS CF1 thanks!
  23. recently got my 156 to the garage for a scheduled service and, at the same time, a flat battery on my 146 that's bad luck, I guess...
