A diesel convertible is just wrong.
-
I'm sure I've had a car that did this, I think I got into it by unlocking it then grabbing the handle quickly before it locked again.
I'm trying to remember what the cause was but right now its eluding me, I think it was related to the boot or car battery but not 100% sure.

Maybe its just a personal thing but I find my 156 more comfy than my 147, the 156 is like putting on a favourite pair of jeans it just feels right, I find the 147 is also a bit on the high side in terms of seating position the 156 seems to be lower in the car.
-
Seems you have a bit of work to do then, keep us updated and don't end this thread like I did for my 166
-
I haven't got a clue, but it will probably help if you indicate which side of the tyre is worn, inner or outer.

Decided to try and sort out the annoying rattle and check the fluids this morning, it took 3 litres of oil to get to the right level, think I've taken my eye of the ball a bit here.
-
Bet its the bloody pixies
Still need to sort out the bell wearing roadkill.
-
Me too, but couldn't see anything coming out.

My 156 2.4 JTD 10v is losing water, I first noticed it a few weeks ago when steam was coming out of the expansion tank and the temperature was reading too high, but no heat from the heater.
I changed the split expansion tank, refilled it and kept an eye on it for a while, all seemed OK, but today Kathy rang me to say it was overheating again, I got her to lift the bonnet and check the expansion tank, it was empty.
I put about 2 litres of water in, followed her home and then had a look for leaks but can't find any. I did notice that there is a constant flow of water into the top of the expansion tank, not sure if this is normal.
When I was following her I did notice it was quite smoky on, I'm assuming here, down shifts it looked like oil smoke not diesel smoke.
The engine is on almost 200k miles so may be approaching the end of its life
I would like to point out I don't drive it very often so little issues become big issues before I'm made aware of them.
-
I used the split type that you glue on my 156, I'm sure Smaky won't approve but its a lot easier.
-
The amount of smoke was great
I had the same with my 156 when a aux belt pulley seized, made the Audi who was trying to get in my boot back off

Welcome aboard
A diesel 159 is probably going to be the replacement for my 156, when it eventually decides to expire.
-
Welcome aboard
Nice collection you have there
-
Or I could borrow a mates brothers Gallardo
Can't make it got to work on Saturday

Would I be allowed in with the passion wagen ?, its an Italian/German mix so a bit like a Lambo
-
Interesting

Perhaps I should sort the dent on the 156 then, trouble with my 156 is its like a old pair of shoes when I put it on (get in) it just feels right, if I replace it things won't feel right.
You definitely need to keep the GTA running, its a future classic.

147 failed on
001 Nearside rear, suspension component mounting corroded.
002 Nearside front Anti-roll bar linkage rubber bush deteriorated
003 Offside as above
004 Nearside Front suspension has excessive play in an upper suspension ball joint.
Estimated cost £450
It did cross my mind to scrap it, but that moment soon passed.

Blanked the EGR in mine and replaced the turbo hose with a combination of stainless steel and silicon tubing, other than that no real issues.
-
Shame, not sure about a JTS and a 3.2 would hurt my wallet too much. I keep telling myself that when the 156 hits 200K miles I will replace it but I will probably just move the goal post, I will find out in 6,000 miles.
-
I always thought it was a 156 chassis, but looked inside one and spotted the 147 interior, so 156 sw/147 combo makes sense, do they do a 2.4 JTDm ?
-
Anything will seem economical compared to your GTA and also lacking in grunt, cracking cars though, are they based on a 147 ?
-
Looks good
Ages ago I bought some glass polish for my machine polisher but have never got round to using it, perhaps when I finish playing around with the passion wagon I will give it a go.

Nice car, reminds me I need to clean mine

Chillax love.
A diesel convertible is wrong because of the noise it makes, I didn't say there is anything wrong with a diesel engine it just has no place in an open top car.
I'm mentioning this in a wanted ad, because we don't have draconian laws here, but we do, or most of us do, have a sense of humour. , perhaps you could put out a wanted ad for one of those as well.
