Symon 1 Report post Posted July 13, 2011 I want another one, preferrably in 20VT Plus form. But I am not allowed. Better cars than the GTV V6 IMO. What do you reckon?

Really don't like the GTV in any way at all apart from the V6 motor.

Symon 1 Report post Posted July 14, 2011 I have had 2 GTV's and 2 Fiat Coupes. I would have another Coupe like a shot, but I wouldn't have another GTV. I think that is all I need to say. Now I will put the stirring impliment away.

WTI 59 Report post Posted July 15, 2011 Always wanted one and nearly bought one before i got my gtv twinny but mileage was a bit too high for me.In my opinion they have aged better lookswise than the gtv/ spider
Symon 1 Report post Posted July 15, 2011 does anyone on here actually like alfa's?? 7 threads in here... 3 in the alfa forum Yes I love Alfa's. The trouble is as much as I love them there are often better cars around. Reasons I prefer the Fiat Coupe to the GTV. Faster Better MPG Easier to tune Less complicated and more reliable rear suspension with little downsides to handling Useable boot and rear seats The Engine is smoother Seats are more comfortable Diff doesn't break unless car has been seriously tuned and abused. Has standard Viscodrive traction control One thing the GTV does win on is engine noise, but the Fiat still sounds really good with a decent Zorst. I haven't mentioned styling as that is subjective. Personally I prefer the GTV front, but the Coupe Rear.
Rewe 8 Report post Posted July 15, 2011 Fiats are OK as a sensible choice, but the cotton reel wheels just look silly.
NineOneSix 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2011 I have the heart of one in my GTV, so I have the better handling, faster engine and better MPG so best of all worlds
Symon 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2011 I have the heart of one in my GTV, so I have the better handling, faster engine and better MPG so best of all worlds To be honest I would argue that the GTV doesn't handle better. The Coupe has a nice dose of Lift off oversteer if you want it. Unless you are really silly or have crap rear tyres a GTV will just understeer.
bigjim 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2011 bit in autoitalia this month re: the coupe being a future classic. after reading it i thought, hmmm i'd like one of those. my mate used to have a scotts green 20vt. he only got rid after many years, due to it having a ecu fault. he got a v6 gt. i'd say the styling is iconic. you don't see cars like that anymore. Well considering the GTV is wider track at the rear by 120mm I found out, I would say it's hard to get it sideways, But in saying that, mine doesn't understeer at all (but I have very agressive front geometry)
Symon 1 Report post Posted July 18, 2011 I always got the impression from mine that when it finally did let go at the back it would do so in a big way. My V6 would understeer a bit, but I take it yours still has the viscodrive from the Coupe up front? That helps quite a lot in that respect.
NineOneSix 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2011 Indeed I do have viscodrive, but having 4 degrees camber and caster gave it immense front end grip but also gave it harsh turn in, very direct.
