selespeed maintainance/service

Recommended Posts

i would like to keep the system in perfect working condition.

What can i do to expand the life of the system and to keep it in good shape?

Annually:

Check/set the clutch rod to 28mm +0.5/-0.0mm,

Calibrate the system,

Run the clutch self adjust routine.

Bi Annually:

All Annual maintenance,

Replace selesped fluid,

Replace gearbox oil.

If a fault occurs repair it asap as the slightest calibration issue will cause the system to lunch the box in time.

Sounds good, by the way how do you drain the selespeed fluid? And is it something special or is it normal automatic transmission fluid?

The correct fluid is CS Speed, available from dealers for £10/litre, you just unplug the pump, dis connect the return hose from the actuator, slip on a length of hose to the exposed union and run that into a catch bottle, Jump in the car and try to make a few selections which will force the accumulator to empty, now connect the pump directly to 12V till the reservoir empties, jump in again and try to make more selections, now clamp the end of the return hose and fill the reservior, and keep topping up, running the pump for a few seconds and selecting gears till the fluid from the return union runs fresh, then reconnect the original hose and top up the system.

Thanks, earlier on I felt a very rough gearchange from 1st to 2nd, I think I was a little rough on the pedal while it was changing, but it did not happen again. Should I be worried?

Will I be able to hear it on idle? I'm going to check later, if I do then what would it mean?

Yes you would, a scrapping whine which would mean clutch change time.
