  1. Hi All. My first post!! unfortunately another negative Selespeed post I am a bit of an Alfa man, as I work for a company that specialise in Classic Alfa Romeos from the 50's to 70's and I also own a 72 GTV. I really don't have a clue about Selespeed, but I did know they are not popular in the trade :He He: I decided hack this thread as I am experiencing a similar problem with my car. I am the proud owner of a 156 SW Sele. I have owned the car since March 2014 and only covered 42k miles from new. As you can tell from the above miles, it was not used much. In 2008 at around 28k miles, it had a complete new clutch kit and gearbox seal, total cost of nearly £800, work was carried out by a reputable Alfa Romeo specialist in London. Anyway, like the GZPERMADI my car has developed a jerk action. It's actually quite bad when the car is warmed up, at the same time with the jerk, as it's about to pull off ( 1st gear ) it makes a metallic crunching noise, a bit like the diff is about to fall out. I guess this might be the release bearing. Before the above started, from cold the first two gear changes were always just like an old granny changing gears ( slipping ). I do also have an oil leak coming from the bell housing and the oil smells exactly like gearbox oil. I don't have Alfadiag etc, I do own a Sykes Pickavant acr4, which I purchased for another car that I own. Can this be used on this vehicle to do some test with the correct cartridge? or is it too old fashioned? Reading the above post by Smaky, seem to lead to a major mechanical problem......Is this the end of my Sele at only 42k miles?
