  1. Smaky Thanks for standing out in the snow and looking at the GTA. It's great to finally meet someone who REALLY knows what they're talking about!! The car is now running perfectly and, touch wood, I think you found the problem that no-one else could find which was caused by the shoddy workmanship of a "well known independent". Thanks again, mate. I'll be in touch when I next need something doing. A
  2. Ok, that sounds good. How can we arrange for you to plug it in to check it out? Can I bring the car to you? Thanks again. A
  3. Smaky - I hope you can help. I have had an intermittent problem with my 156 GTA selespeed for a couple of years now. Its been in with a few specialists but no-one has been able to sort it. From time to time the selespeed gets stuck in gear and the only way to solve it is to turn-off, leave it a few minutes and then its ok. If the car is in city mode when it happens then I lose all drive and the car is effectively in neutral but there is also very little throttle response - if I press the button to come out of city mode and press the throttle there is a delayed reaction and very little throttle response but then it finds a gear and I'm off but stuck in that gear until I switch off again. If I'm not in city mode when it happens I lose throttle response and then it kicks into the gear I was in again but is stuck in that gear. It can happen in any gear and sometimes happens every few miles or sometimes weeks apart. Last time someone looked at it they took out the relays by the battery and cleaned the connections, took out and unplugged and plugged back in the relay in the glovebox and cleaned the selespeed ecu connections and it didn't happen again for several months but has now started again. I did think it was probably something to do with the pump pressure and heat because I assume when I switch off it cools down a bit - but now I really don't know. Really hoping you can help.
