  1. Leaking head gasket maybe?
  2. I finally had a day off when I could check what Alex suggested. Yep, there was oil in the spark plug wells... I've cleaned it up as best I can. Where might the problem be guys? Daff.
  3. Ah, the old 1.6! Thanks Alex - I'll get on it this afternoon. Rgds, D.

  5. Hi All! Have a little snagette on the JTS... From about 25 - 30 MPH, I hear a low droning from the front N/S wheel. I thought it may be the wheel bearing on the way out, but on cornering left and right, the drone is constant. The wheel is never hot, or even warm, after driving, but if you stick your nose in the wheel well, it smells a bit like burning plastic... Bushes? Something more nasty? Thanks Guys. Daff.
  6. Hi Guys! I'm loving my 156 2.0 JTS, but she's having a moan... On startup, I hear a 'whistling' sound from the engine, and she hunts for a few seconds. If I drive away immediately, she's a bit 'jerky' in first and second. 60 seconds later, she's fine, although, on occasion she's a bit jerky in fourth... I haven't tried a throttle reset yet. Not sure if it's appropriate... Oil consumption seems a bit excessive (to be honest, it's often hard to read the dipstick...). Any thoughts please? I also have a low 'humming' sound that is detailed in the Suspension/Brakes section. Thanks! Daff.
  7. Wish mine was! She's a-squeakin' and a-squealin' and a-squelchin' like a 72 gun First Rate ship of the line under full sail!
  8. Still not a wave from any bastard! How 'bout you Tony?
  9. Just kill them then! No great loss, after all... Thanks - See you sometime in September then.
  10. Nah, it's very 'tinny'. Bloody annoying though! Just to err on the side of caution, I'll take her back to the garage and ask them to get her on the ramps for a good look. BTW Alex, did you tell me that I need a new resistor for the cooling fan, or was everything OK the last time you looked at her? I remember that you told me that my front discs were a bit thin. Might as well replace those buggers soon. Would you have some spare time next month maybe?
  11. Roger that! Now there's a hell of a rattle coming from rear nearside too! Only when I drive over a bump or suchlike. I've been crawling around under the car but can't find anything loose... Why can't she just behave herself?
  12. No one has ever seen me (well, just once on the M3 southbound to Winchester). I'm invisible - I must be be because every Alfa I've ever seen was driven by someone who positively refused to look at me.
  13. Er, not sure, but I believe the guy said outside...
  14. No idea how to do what you say! I'll find out though... P.S. Bella had her MOT last Friday. She failed but only because my front tyres were worn! I'm well happy with that result! (Thanks Alex...)
  15. Thanks Alex. I shall attempt to have a shufti!
  16. I, like Al, have a squeak (well, not me you understand). It's coming from the front offside and must be suspension related as when I drive over a bump, or dead body in the road, there follows a sort of 'squelching' sound. Nothing heard when driving under normal conditions, and nothing heard when turning corners. Anything that springs to mind guys? Bella's going for her MOT on Friday morning. I always get very nervous when it's MOT time.
