  1. You should know by now ANYTHING connected with Alfa's is more expensive than other cars.

But just as a side note if you join and insure your car via the club you will easily save that on the premium (in my case it was nearly double) and it's much less hassle to explain modifications / upgrades like Brembo Brakes.

  2. I suppose it comes as no surprise that once again Smaky seems to be correct.

I'm fairly sure the end isn't supposed to be contoured, grooved and burred like that. The only worry is what caused it.

Anyway to prove the point I bypassed the sensor, set the clutch rod to 28.25mm and as if by magic....... gears appeared. Well 1,2,3 & 4 did (without the engine running as I didn't want to chance anything). Hoping 5 & R join the party when I run the full calibration functions.

So once again thank you Smaky.

  3. After a bit of fiddling about I managed to her to start and run and sorted a few other bits and pieces out but I cant select any gears.

Popped it onto MES and the following faults kept re-occurring or wouldn't go at all

Clutch disk speed & P1769 AG4 Transmission Torque Modulation Fault

    Selespeed light flashes.

Also noticed that when one of the Hyd controls (the one on the left of the actuator as you look at the engine bay, near the gearbox end cover) seemed to be all or nothing. With it connected the clutch rod reads about 9mm and the lever is pushed hard against the bell housing cover and the fault codes appear and will not clear. With it disconnected the fault codes will clear and the clutch measurement returns to 28mm. so I'm thinking it may be a faulty hydraulic sensor / control.

Brake pedal switch is functioning correctly and gears requested show on MES but not gears engaged(because they are not.)

    Any ideas

  4. I agree we need to do something.

Flags are a good idea, especially if we park together in some sort of group at events.

Car stickers are the obvious choice. if I see another Alfa parked I always go and have a quick peek so I assume other people do as well and a sticker in the rear screen may entice them to log on and have a look.

T shirts could also generate some interest, especially at events. I know money is tight but I would have no problem in paying for my own stuff.

What about a flyer we could download, print and stick under windscreen wipers, although not in the rain. We could also have a small competition (just for fun) to see who could give out the most and start a thread to post the photographic evidence.

  5. Thanks Smaky,

Battery good, new & fully charged. terminals tight.

I'll try the jump lead trick next week.

Most of the loom can only be connected one way but there are 2 pairs of leads on the gearbox with the same connections. Pretty sure they are correct and the cables seem to suggest where they go but what would happen if they were reversed?

  6. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2001 156 Selespeed. Looked in all the usual places and can't find anything.

Connected the engine bay and gearbox loom up but she won't turn over. Works fine if you connect the starter directly to the battery but there is no power getting to the solenoid. Relay seems ok so either I have a dodgy connection or something plugged in wrong (it was pissing down and getting dark). The only other option is maybe an immobiliser / inhibiter fault.

Electrics are not my strong point so any ideas or suggestions welcome, and a wiring diagram would be nice.

Want to over next time with as much info as I can.
