Abs Tolerence.

Recommended Posts

Qucik question, How much "Tolerence" is there in the ABS system......As in wheel speed difference before the system sees it as a problem.

Say, 205/55/16 tyres on the rear and 20/50/16 tyres on the front, i think it works out at approx 3% smaller circumfrance for the fronts, so would be rotating slighty faster than the rears in a straight line.

To be honest I don't know the tolerances but personally I wouldn't do it. Mainly because if the ABS has to cut in in an emergency just that there IS the possibility it will screw things up is a chance that may just cost you your life.

What ?????

1, I don't rely on the ABS.....I drive normal.......

2, I asked the question to find out if the system would throw up a fault above 10Mph...

It shouldn't be a problem, the tolerance is 7% between wheel speeds to create an issue, but it requires 100% difference between 2 wheels for the system to activate or show a fault.
