Alfa 147 Front Wheel Bearings, Sizes?

Recommended Posts

I need to have a look at the wheel bearings as there is a noise somewhere.

The 156 and 147 bearings are listed as being different , most 147 have the same front bearings.

They all appear the same mounting casing but outer and inner bearing dimensions change .

Some sites list them as being the same?

I have a wreck 156 which was good , are the bearings compatible , same year, same engine/box?

Do they change the hubs?

*Or is the bearing removable from the hub or outer race integral with the casing?

Any ideas?

You'll NEVER get a front bearing out in one piece. There are different sizes dependant on year for the 156. The 147 uses the same, but the hubs differ between TS/JTD and GTA versions.

Yes, i noticed the 147 seems to use the same bearing/bearing block.

A few, maybe four that i counted for the 156.

Are the bearings available new to insert in the 156 carriers?

Presume a big circlip on one side?

Yes they are and there is no circlip, you have to be careful not to damage the abs sensor when pressing them in or out, when you press out the hub it always pulls one of the outer reces out with it and you have to cut that off, then push out the rest of the bearing from the carrier, then press the new bearing into the carrier, lastly I place a socket on the in side inner race and press it down onto the hub so that the bearing cant separate.
