Cas 2 Report post Posted March 28, 2015 Selespeed, strange gear selection when cold? Strange when the car is cold the gear indicator flashes, indicates the wrong gear i think, sometimes blank for a second. Once warm it works OK. Is this the transmission ECU on the way out? I have another one from a working car , where is it located and is it a plug and play job? Thanks guys.
Smaky 73 Report post Posted March 29, 2015 No, it is normally the sensor on the back of the actuator (Range sensor).
Cas 2 Report post Posted April 1, 2015 Many thanks. I haven't got a manual for the Selespeed yet. Is that the position sensor?

Cas 2 Report post Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) Thanks. Could this cause the selection noises that i hear sometimes? Edited April 2, 2015 by Cas
Smaky 73 Report post Posted April 2, 2015 Yes, but only because it has been contaminated, it would be the one on the back plate normally.
Cas 2 Report post Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Can you explain in detail what you mean? I went to the wreckers and found a low mileage 147 and got the gear position sensor. Same , doesn't change the start-up selection...OK when warm. Edited April 13, 2015 by Cas
