Angelom 7 Report post Posted July 22, 2014 Anybody ever do this? How difficult is it? My brother's screen is cracked heavily and the car needs to go for a roadworthy test. The insurance is willing to pay but none of the glass suppliers/fitters have one. The company that can make one have all sorts of excuses and is stalling. We found a 2nd hand one but it's still in the source car. We can have it but need to take it out ourselves on our own risk. None of the dealers/fitters wants to take a chance taking it out as well. Meanwhile, his car is a sitting duck
rob3rto 7 Report post Posted July 23, 2014 Friends have approached Autoglass staff, when they are doing the supermarket rounds, to do private jobs. Cash in hand, majority will say yes.
Smaky 73 Report post Posted August 1, 2014 If the donor car is a scrapper then I'd take the frame away with it and soak it all in acetone to break the bond.
