Samwilde681 2 Report post Posted March 4, 2014 Does anyone have and opinions/ experience with the power steering fluid? there seems to be very mixed opinions. My steering rack is perfectly fine, no whines but the guy at MDZ suggests that the green, less viscous fluid is better, currently its red and the reservoir is a bit dirty looking, deffo leaked at some point. He also said to replace the reservoir at the same time to make sure the job is done properly. Not hugely expensive at all so happy to do it, it just concerns me a bit as im a 'if it aint broke dont fix it' kinda guy. Oh and the issue I had was a wheel nut not done up correctly..... cost to fix.. free, I hope thats the sign on things to come...

Also may have something in the red fluid that attacks the materials used in the system. But, it might be OK - could just be a viscosity issue.
