K9d 108 Report post Posted October 19, 2013 Will it be cooler next to that water pipe?
alfizta 6 Report post Posted October 19, 2013 thanks northenbstard K9d, I was thinking about that as soon as I done this. I'll probably be rotating the Maf a bit more next to the battery, but the rubber tube is not as thermal conductive as engine metal, also hot air goes upward and gets stuck up in the engine bay, so, it should be cooler this way... Clem Fandango 71 Report post Posted October 19, 2013 Let's hope there's no condensation in there running into the connection.
alfizta 6 Report post Posted October 20, 2013 if that time comes, that's when I'll put it back in place
Smaky 73 Report post Posted October 20, 2013 Let's hope there's no condensation in there running into the connection. That's the reason it's the other way up, plust all you've done is move the plug closer to the heat, bad move, turn it back round and the MAF will live. alfizta 6 Report post Posted October 20, 2013 ok. back will go then. before this, I had it turned upwards, but to the right, next to the battery... did this because some had issues with the MAF connector being damaged with the engine heat...
Smaky 73 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 It should lean over towards the engine when fitted correcly, this is so that water doesnt collect in the sensor, the markers on the ducting align, the sensor is orientated correctly for the laminar flow path of the air and it's how it was designed and tested to be. Smaky 73 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 If the engine is hot enough to affect the plug then you have a bigger issue.
