finny05 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Its a sad state of affairs when the car you put so much money into goes bang in less than 2 years and less than 12,000 miles. He has had quite a few problems with this car and now the reliability issues are coming out. Just before christmas his cambelt slipped a couple of teeth,it was retimed put back together and given a clean bill of health. Our own Tech guru Smaky, forwarned that the days of the engine were numbered,on this he was right. Now what for Nigel, his car is off the road and the investment in a reliable engine down the plughole. He has had three clutches and numerous other glitches. If Nigel was a rag it everywhere sought of guy I perhaps would understand, but he is not. All he wants now is his car back with a 3.2 that works as it is his everyday car, and leave the tuning to the professionals! As it is a hell of alot of money to lose!! And thats why I have never gone down the 3.7/8 route. Edited January 4, 2013 by finny05
Bigdar 62 Report post Posted January 4, 2013 R.I.P Fair bit of stress on the car though
finny05 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2013 You maybe right but the Dawie De Villiers cars seem to cope, maybe they have mastered the art of good tuning!!
LJ_GQV 115 Report post Posted January 4, 2013 Id seen his car had some trouble, shame as his GTA is 1 of my favourites too
smiffy 99 Report post Posted January 4, 2013 Ooooops maybe dreams of a 3.7/8 are no more Supercharged it is then Poor Nigel
finny05 1 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) Well the good news is Autolusso have promised to get Nigel's car back to him by the weekend! But the bad news for Autolusso is they have lost another customer! Calling fellow Gta owners "cocks" and riduculing your customers is not the best way to make friends! James, I thought you showed great restraint after the unfounded rant. Its seems Andy will always blow hot air into the wrong balloon! It seems like that with alot of these problems with big bore kits your always in the hands of the tuner to what they say has caused the failure of an engine. Just on the positive side my self and John Day will be putting together a Gta club with discounts from prefered specialists, and a comprensive guide to looking after your Gta's and unbaised reports on specialists who are good, bad and downright ugly. Jamhot77 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 Cheers finny....Im raging to be honest! That whole rant was a pack of lies by Ned. I asked him to remove it but he declined therefore I am looking for another garage. I spoke to Nigel and Tony Peanuts and they just want there 3.8s back asap. finny05 1 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 Yeah the mods on AO seem to let him get away with alot especially one in particular!! And also congratulate him on being self restrained!!! Never mind I've never been into mates rates and all that!! John Day at Brands Hatch will look after you,he's a good guy who loves his work and I havn't heard a bad word said against him. You normally find the good specialists don't have to tout for business! If you find any other garages worth sharing let us know.
Bigdar 62 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 Always good to hear others experiences with garages, whether they be good or bad. Ned might not like to hear it, but that certainly doesn't mean it shouldn't be said I'm sure this third party investigation (organised by autolusso) will give Nigel the honest causes of failure Apologies, I'm a bit of a cynic
finny05 1 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Yes I think your right,I have yet to see Ned put his hands up to an Autolusso mistake its always the failure of a component ,be it koni Fsd,bearing,Q2 diff or oil oh and the plastic balls in the plenum fiasco!! I also see Andy Mod Bod closed the the Ao thread, probably because Jonny from JJBMotors dared to question his neutrality as a moderator,I have asked Andy in the past about his desicions and not got a straight answer! Thats showbusiness!!! Edited January 9, 2013 by finny05
Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Its great when yourbout of the country and get accused of things, but having never touched nigels car i know its nothing ive done, and ss for the photoshoot comment it was said bby the shoots driver that nugels car was the disappointment of the day, not meant nastily butbas a 3.8 with all the other stuff done to it aswell, it should have outperformed the sc 3. Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Fat fingers in frogland on the wife's shitty s3, now back on the I5 I'll just finish off with.... Nigel's felt underpowered for a 3.8 and ran out of steam far too early, compared to Colin's 3.2sc, which top end should have felt lacking against the brown beast, on the day it was John days (black cat) which felt the most complete package, that though is in reference to the whole car, not just the engines. The real shame with this whole episode is that Nigel has thrown a huge amount of cash towards these mods and is unfortunately in the position of having nothing to show for it, plus after reading through a thread on another forum, it's looking like Nigel is not going to be the only one left with the sour aftertaste of the beds garage experience, plus the way they are talking to customers... I would be ashamed of such customer relations.
Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 15, 2013 I've had a thought on the 3 main reasons I think are the most likely POSSIBILITES that Nigels 3.8 has died, 1, Loose crank nut - causing low oil pressure 2, Faulty belt tensioner - the car had been in to a certain garage recently where they said the timing had skipped, they realigned the timing and gave the car a clean bill of health . 3, Poor machine work when enlarging the liner seats leaving them over sized or misaligned, this would in time allow the liners to move ever so slightly as the engine was running and cause the disasterous death rattle I thought I heard the last time I heard her running
finny05 1 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) well we shall probably never know the reason behind Nigel's engine failure as it is a closely guarded secret!! Why? you are left to draw your own conclusions. It was sad to see Bod the mod shutting down another thread relating to the 3.8. Andy stop being a puppet! Its not big or clever! And it was good to see Adie come out in defence of the 3.8 and highlight the facts even if other people do not like the truth. And it is important to stress if the 3.8 is built properly then it should behave itself! I still wouldn't have one based on cost with gains, now if it was purely for the track, then I would be visiting either of the three I know who could build such a car. Jamhot77 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 Well I managed to get my first warning ever on a forum for congratulating Ned on the 4th engine rebuild on the same 3.8. My post was then deleted yet the post from Ned which is blatant lying stays up! Very frustrating. Bigdar 62 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 As stuffy as it is, we probably shouldn't slag it off so freely. Rise above it, it's why we're here. The answer is to post here instead You could probably count the amount of threads closed here on half a set of pissflaps

finny05 1 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 Anyway back to the topic in hand,I havn't heard from Nigel for a couple of days so not sure if he has his car back,I hope so as being without one's car is a pain in the arse. And the good news for him is he has alot of people in the Gta group who are watching his back.
