Fiat Panda ad ???

Recommended Posts

:wtf: Fiat own Alfa and the new ad for the Fiat Panda shows it reversing into

a parking slot with what looks like an Alfa 156 parked in the background ...

Fair enough it's an Alfa and we don't see many on TV I hear you say ...But FFS

why didn't the Ad company slot in a current range Alfa model and kill 2 birds with 1 stone :nonono:

I saw that. You only really get to see the front grille though. 156 is prob the most recognisable?

Why would they show the new car of a competing brand in the same advert?

I get your drift but if you own the competing brand why place an obsolete model

in an advert that has probably cost a few million to produce

Because each brand is its own company, with its own profit margins.

They may be owned by the same people, but they are separate companies.

You dont see coca cola trying to flog oasis in their ads do you...

Sorry :(

I agree its stupid, it would be a lot more cost effective to do it your way.

I guess they dont want to pollute the brand image, confuse customers etc. A strong single image will sell more cars.

Essentially, the buying public are too dumb to make their own minds up from two cars

Plus a lot of people wouldn't know fiat owns both brands.

Yes, people who buy little eco box fiats don't want alfas. Why try to sell them one?

Alfa is the 'premium' brand, fiat is the budget brand.

If I was considering a new audi, all their ads having skodas in them would put me right off.

If I was considering a new Audi, I'd want them to throw in a shiny suit and an anger management course.

I wouldn't be all that bothered about what other cars were in the advert - as a prospective Audi owner, I wouldn't care. I'm the only important car on the road.

Twice? You really do give in! :P

In fairness, NB, the munkmeister's right. The ad agency would have been told that they could either use previous FIAT-group products, or disguised cars. To disguise a car costs money, so it's easier just to get some out-of-production FIAT-group machinery in front of the camera.

Also, no advertiser wants to detract from its own product. In the case of the Fiat Panda, having a Giulietta or MiTo in shot would show the Panda up as being a bit of an ugly duckling, which could have counter-productive outcomes, as anyone with a good-looking mate will tell you.
