Anjenha 44 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 So, I leave the car... Walk about forty feet away, smoke a cigarette and as I finish... *click* Boot opens (I haven't touched the boot) It's happened a few times now. I've opened the glove box and ensured the button there is not accidentally being pressed somehow, and even left it on the 'latch' so as not to disturb the button But it still opens itself. Not everyday, and once shut again it's fine Help? 2000 v reg 916 P2 Spider Started doing this a month or so ago... Never happens with the engine running. Anjenha 44 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 trying to remember if I've backed into anything The light strip (beneath the boot) was slightly off level when we bought the car, but that was around August time
LJ_GQV 115 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 Is there anything in the boot? If there is maybe something moves while you're driving Is the boot lock/catch bit dirty?
Anjenha 44 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 I'll have a look before I go home There is a bag of bits from Charlotte's boot in Aphrodite's which I haven't sorted out yet
2spark 6 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 Try disconnecting the boot switch and see what happens
Anjenha 44 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 Close it with the key? I haven't got clever keys with buttons Well, I have, in a box with a new lock set... Which may well answer my question However, for now, no buttons

Smaky 73 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 I'm guessing this is a phase 1 916??? There's been an issue with the rag tops in that the body control box above the glove box gets damp inside and creates a short circuit at the exact moment the interior light extinguishes and this trips the boot release, the symptoms sound right but it has had other causes too in the past. Anjenha 44 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 He has been far to busy with paid work to look at it. (got home at 23:30 last night due to doing a dual mesh fly wheel ) I also have a wheel bearing issue where the bearings sound so bad they might be cubes so one night this week I'll go to his from work, I'll let you know when I do
Smaky 73 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Dual MASS flywheel lol. Barely more than a clutch change.
Anjenha 44 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 No he went into it, there were other things I tend to drift when he talks about work
Anjenha 44 Report post Posted January 13, 2012 Should have news on the boot next week also found last night that it's two rear wheel bearings a little gone not one REALLY bad one hence the racket! Luckily I had just had the wheel bearings done on Charlotte before she died, and still have them

Luckily I had just had the wheel bearings done on Charlotte before she died, and still have them if that#'s the case then swap the whole hub, it'll be unlikely for the bearins to come off in one piece.
